    1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)

*Choosing a design!! There have been so many cute designs, but we wanted to find something affordable that would match our save the dates! We finally found a really cute DIY website where they would design it for free, and then we can print them on our own!

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

*What is the best way to package an invitation suite? What size paper for the RSVP vs. the Map or the actual invitation, and what are some creative ways to bundle them together?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

*Since we are doing them ourselves, the entire thing has been time consuming! We have to assemble each aspect of the invitation suite. The MOST time consuming thing has been addressing the envelopes...my crazy self has decided to take a couple calligraphy classes and then write them out by hand. I'm CRAZY! :)

Getting the wording right was toough, My Dad is paying but really we are hosting it at my church. My Mother wont even be there 7 My stepmom was realliy involved in planning. But then if we put my parents on as host since they are paying his parents might get offended for not being on the invitations. Luckily though the sales person at teh invitation company was very helpful and we got it all figured out, everyone complimented us on our invitations and said they were very well written.

Also I had a woman a few months ago say that she would help with my programs and then when I need to order them she no longer can so now I have to figure out how I am going to do all of my programs.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

Do I eally need escort cards and place setting cards?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

    Addressing them .
  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations?

**My Mother getting a little carried away with the wording. We dont need a 12 page long invite! We are having the traditional wording, but at the end, there are 2 lines stating guests can find further travel, registry, and attire information on our website. She is completly against the website information, but I personally dont want or need 100+ phone calls about what to wear and where we are registered!!!!!! Its going on the invite wether she likes it or not.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

**How exactly to write guests names, is it tacky to fill out the RSVP form FOR them, to really drive it home only the invitee is invited? How much postage is exactly enough, or overkill?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

**Addressing and sealing them will be the biggest task!
  •  1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)

wording. I wanted to keep it traditional but i dont want it to sound like my parents are throwing the wedding for us and his parents arent doing anything.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

i was so confused if i did the direction card with room accomdations, am i still to throw in the "we are registered at..." and direction card for the hotel? so many things to put in a little envelope

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

  •  1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)
Wording has been most difficult because we are paying for the wedding ourselves and my parents are divorced with my dad remarried and my mom still single so it has been confusing. We finally decided not to mention our parents on our invitations and are only saying "together with their families"

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?
We wanted DIY invitations and it was difficult finding out which ones are available to print on a normal home computer. I didn't want to have them and design them and then have to bring them somewhere to be printed specially.

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?
We are doing a pocket fold invitation so it will take a while to print them out, make them fancy and put them together. We are also using a wax seal to seal them so that will take a while to do each individually but will be worth it when they're all done! :)

  • 1. My biggest struggle was trying to pick out something affordable and still getting something fun that worked with our wedding colors.
2.OUr biggest question was: I was not  sure if we had to include our familes oun the invite even though we paid for everything. It was a bit of a sore point with my family.
    3. The most time consuming task was picking out the workding and the fonts. Our printer somehow did not have the font that we had originally picked out but we worked it all out and ended up with a beautiful product at the end.

    Thank You,
    Catie

    1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)

Definitely the wording/ettiquete! We are trying to keep our guest list to a minimum, and it's hard to figure out the correct wording on response cards to try to eliminate people tacking on unwanted guests. I've heard horror stories of people RSVP-ing with entire families (when just the mom & dad were invited).

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

When I first started planning I didn't realize how easy a DIY invitation could be. There were soooo many options out there for paper, envelops, vellum, etc.

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

For me it was designing the invitation template, pritning them, fixing errors and making sure eveyrthing matches up and looks great.
  • 1. My biggest struggle is finding cost effective soliutions for invitations. Many websites advertise that the invitation will only cost $1.49, but that only includes the invitation, with all of the add ons, such as repsonse cards, reception cards and envelopes, it comes out to about $6.00 per invitation.
    2. I am also confused on wording, I was wondering if I could skip the reception card all together and include that inforamtion on the invite itself.
    3. My most time consuming task is finializing the guest list, and making sure that everyone who needs to be invited gets invited.
  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations?
Definitely picking a design! Not only are there too many choices, but all the ones I really like were too expensive. I did not want to spend a lot on invitations when they're only going to get thrown away in the end anyway! I wanted something simple, but with a romantic design. Maybe I'm picky, but it took me forever to pick one that I loved AND was a reasonable price!

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?
Do you really need an inner envelope? I didn't use one because I think it's a waste of paper, why do you need two envelopes? And also why are all response cards I see folded? Not a big deal, I'm just curious why they aren't all flat cards?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

Assembling them has taken a long time! I've set aside a little time every night to organize, stuff, and tie the ribbons. Plus putting stamps on everything and addressing them. It took weeks to finally get them ready for the post office!
  •  1. Picking the design
    2. How much information is appropiate to put on? I don't want it too look to croweded but I want to add different things.
    3.Decorating them myself.
  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)

My biggest struggle has been the wording. The ones I have you have to type the wording on the invites, and trying to find the right words has been tough. And one problem with the typing invites you only have so many test sheets and once you mess up an actualy invite you have to spend money to buy more.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

Do we put the attaire info on the invites for the ones without computers? How about the registry info?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

Typing them and get the wording perfect. Also figuring out exactly who I need to send one to.

  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)
    .
My biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations was the cost of ordering due to the fact that they are sent out (postage) and thrown away after the wedding has passed. So to me was trying to find the best deal on invitations without breaking more than $400 in total. It just so happen I was on vistaprint to buy business cards and they were fabulous!

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

Do you really need envelopes inside envelopes that contain the invitation? IT MAKES THINGS SO HEAVY.  Parchment paper is done out of tradition so the ink wouldn't smudge or get on the other items. Do you really need to have parchment paper? When you order recyclable, should you tell your guest to recycle your invitation? So it shouldn't be thrown out?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

Researching costs and finding the right paper.

    1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.) My biggest struggle was finding etiquette rules regarding inviting people to a destination wedding. My mother insisted that everyone get a plus one...even people who were not in relationships. It rubbed me the wrong way, but I knew none of the +1 invites would come, so I relented. My other struggle has been finding thank yous that match the whole paper theme. We ordered our invites from Zazzle because the savings were great, but they didn't have any matching thank-you cards that weren't ridiculously expensive.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding? My questions have all been about wording. Our main concern was wording on the programs. My parents are divorced and my dad is remarried. My fiance's dad recently passed. He wanted to mention his brothers and his son in the program but they weren't in the wedding party, so we weren't sure how. We ended up not putting them in.

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out? Finding affordable invitations was a problem for us. I found ones I love but they were incredibily expensive. I found a few other ones and ones we were going to print ourselves, but we decided we wanted something professional. I kept looking and looking but I couldn't find anything that wasn't at least several dollars per invite. We finally found the ones at Zazzle and were able to customize everything including the wording. They turned out really nice.

My struggle has been understanding ettiquette, especially if it is acceptable for us to include our registry with the invitation. And what else is acceptable to include, Iike how do we tell people they can't bring their kids without sounding rude?

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

I want to make the invitations myself to save money. Is it ok to just use stock paper from someplace liek Michaels?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

Since I'm making the invitations myself, it's taken me a lng time to choose what goes into it and put them together.

    1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)
OH LORD, where do I begin?!?! First off, there was a HUGE debate about how much we should spend on invites- i never realized how much invites cost! It is so difficult because I have a family member who offerd to pay for the invites, but when I told them how much it would be, they flipped! They did not realize how much those things cost either, obviously!!
The wording is something we are still working on, I want to have a wording that is not too traditional yet something that is simple and to the point. It is not as easy as I thought. Finally, my wedding will have an "Adult only" reception. I do not know if it is proper to include this on the invite..is it tacky? rude? ahhh I am totally stressed and overwhelmed...

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?
Do I really need to send an RSVP card? I am Mexican, and you would think that we don't believe it RSVP'ing.. 'cause we don't do it! HUGE frustration when it will come down to the guest list, since I know I will have to personally call everyone to get the final head count. grr.

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?
Spendig time looking at different invites. I thought I was a simple girl and I thought this would be easy- I bought my dress the first time I went dress shopping, and I choose the 2nd dress I tried on-- Invites should be a breeze, right? NOT! still lookin' for them. Thankfully I have finally narrowed it down to 3 options, so things are looking up! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? Wording, because we are having adult only, so trying to be politically correct was hard. Searching for the invitations in our price range and color. 2. What are some questions that you've had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding? Will it be heavier than normal postage price. Will the paper last. 3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out? The price. Creating the labels.
  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)

I have had the hardest time figuring out the font that would be perfect for the invitations. Also, I am looking for a unique design, which can be difficult.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

What type of paper is the best to use for invitations? Also, how do you make "do it yourself" invitations look professional, but still remain inexpensive?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

The most time consuming task is hand writing the envelopes to make them special.

I really don't know where to begin...1)My biggest struggle with the wedding invitations in the beginning was finding a the color I needed with the double hearts.  Silver must be the standard and I needed gold; then the price because we are on a serious budget. Once I got those two things together or so I thought, the search was back on to find a SET without having to buy the RSVP card separately...OMG...THEN since I don't "have" a father, but have two mothers and my fiance's parents are deceased it took a while to find the right wording.  I GOOGLED IT!
    2) My biggest question was how formal did the invitations have to be?  How much detail had to go into the invitations.  Since my words for my wedding are "simple, and elegant, like me" that is what I decided on for the invitations.

    3) The most time consuming task for me was 1) putting them together.  I had a system going and my fiance' wanted to help.  I had preprinted labels...he put some labels on the envelope CROOKED, I thought I would lose it!  That is not elegant. SMH... the next thing for me was my fiance' adding people to the freaking list when I thought I was finished.  That meant they did not have a preprinted label with their name and address so it had to be handwritten.  Not elegant!  Lastly, my wedding coordinator insisted I had the RSVP envelopes pre stamped.  I got all those stamps and STILL haven't gotten the RSVPs back!!

    1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)
I really struggled trying to find a unique design. I really liked the pocket fold design, but I didn't want to just go with the standard design. I ended up designing a gate fold combined with a pocket fold. And then I designed my own invite and inserts to go inside, which was also a stuggle because there were a lot of different options design-wise

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?
My main question was how to keep the invite fairly lightweight so that postage didn't cost a ton. I also had no idea about cardstock weight, so I ordered samples which was really beneficial and helped me choose my cardstock.

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?
I made all my pocket folds (140), which took FOREVER. While I love how my invites turned out, and I got a ton of compliments on how unique they were, given the chance to do it again, I'm not sure I would just because it really did take a long time.
  • 1.Its funny. I got on the boards tonight to vent and get advice about my invites. So I guess now I have an excuse lol. The biggest struggle I have had is that my parents are divorced and have been for 4 years now. It was very very ugly and everyone is still licking their wounds. My mother and I have no relationship. I have not seen her in 2+ years. She calls me on Christmas and my birthday and says "Hi its your mom I was calling to wish you a (insert Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas here).  So (Merry Christmas/ Happy Birthday)" and that is the only contact we have.  My dad and I are fairly close and he is doing what he can to help with the wedding. Anyway, the problem is the wording on the invitations. I was going to leave parents out of it as they are not together and we are paying for most of it ourselves. However, my dad told me the other day that he assumed he would be included and that he wants my mom included as well. I do not know what to do now. I appreciate his help and do not want to hurt his feelings but I would rather not include either of them. I do not understand why he wants her on the invite anyway. His relationship is actually uglier than mine is. She is not even going to be invited so I cannot see any reason to put her on the invite. Plus, no one from either side of the family wants her name included. Just my dad. Anyway thats my big invite dilemma.
    2. I found mine on VIstaprint fairly easily. I like them. If money were not an object I would not have chosen them but I think they are cute.
    3. The most time consuming task was finding cheap invitations that did not look cheap. Also, listening to everyone in my family weigh in on the wording.

    1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)
Wording, I know the tradition is that it states "The Mother and Father of the bride invited you to the wedding of the Bride and the Groom, son of Mother and Father of the Groom." I have a feeling that my Future Mother in Law will throw a fit that she is not listed at the top of the invitation. I am terrified that the simple wording of the invitation will cause a fight that I would never want, and would just cast a shadow on the whole thing.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?
Do the glue dots really work? I have used them in the past and sometimes they stick sometimes they don't. I would love to use them, since I don't want to have to use glue sticks or tape.

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?
Picking out the right design has been the biggest issue. I love the folder ones and ones with pockets, but I also love just the simple ones. The pockets are a great idea, but they can't be put on a fridge or a tack board like a simple card.

It has been absolutely impossible to find cardstock that matches the print at home invitations we bought at Michaels!  Who would have thought it would be sooo hard to find ivoryish cardstock?  It's not quite ivory but not really off-white either.  We just need something to print the accomodations and directions on that matches or atleast looks halfway decent with the invitations and reply cards!

     2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?
How do you know how much postage is going to be BEFORE you buy the invitations and assemble all of them?

     3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?
Finding ones that match our colors (navy blue and lime green)  Finally giving up and going with white and silver.

A: Definitely choosing the style. I ended up choosing a pocketfold :)

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

A: What needs to be included on the ceremony program? How long is too long? And should I provide a menu at the reception?

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

A: Getting RSVPs and contacting the guests who have not responded.
  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)
The biggest struggle was, since we were going for a more nontraditional invitaion, we wanted it to have a poem or saying that was both not super formal but still expressed our love for each other.  Fiance and I searched the internet for ideas, and finally decided to write our own, which ended up turning out nicely, but it took some time and effort to get it just so.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?
Since I was going for a more informal feel for my wedding, I just used generic paper stock.

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?
The most time consuming was when we were addressing and stuffing envelopes.  Fiance and I tackled getting all of the invitations addresses and envelopes stuffed in one evening, but it took us 3 or 4 hours of working straight to get it all done.

  • 1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)

The biggest struggle for us was finding time to put our invitations together. We went with our wedding colors (champagne and navy blue) as the color scheme and chose a simple invitation. We placed "theatre tickets" in with meal information to stick with our theatre theme. In addition we included a card with RSVP information and our wedding website URL. We are both graduating this semester so we both had senior obligations, plus school, work, and extracurricular activities. Finding time in our busy schedule to put these together, much less spend time together, was very difficult this semester.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

I don't really have any questions because I've sent out the invitations and I'm still waiting for replies. However, I do find it frustrating that I'm getting married in a little over a month and not even half of those invited have replied. I also have a tip. I found out from a couple of other brides-to-be that they had to pay extra postage for their square invitations. I have also heard that the postcard-sized invitations have given people grief at the post office. I'm just glad we chose rectangular invitations!

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

The most time-consuming task for us was addressing the envelopes by hand. We decided not to spend money on labels (ordering or buying the diy kits) to save a little more cash. We had a friend help us and by the time we were done all three of us had hand cramps!

     1. What has been your biggest struggle regarding wedding invitations? (e.g., wording, searching the invitations and picking the design, ordering invitations, understanding the etiquette, etc.)

My biggest struggle - and worst nightmare come true - was dealing with the USELESS Postal Service. Although my sample invite was mailed to me at 65 cents (the exact same size and weight as my "live" ones), and I weighed out the invites to mail at 65 cents, when I dropped them off they were all returned to me two days later!

The USPS bundled them all up with rubber bands, crushing them, and leaving dark streaks on many of them. Thankfully they only put "undeliverable" labels on two of them. Although everything we found shows they should have mailed for 65 cents I stood in the post office in tears and was told I had to add another 45 cents to each one. MISERABLE.

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

We didn't have many questions but were very surprised at the quality (or lack thereof) of several samples we ordered. I ended up going with a local custom print shop and had the prettiest invites at a very reasonable cost!

    3. What have you found to be the most time consuming task when it comes to choosing invitations and sending them out?

Assembling our invites and addressing them were both two very time consuming tasks. Our invites had a piece that had to be adhered to the outside of the folder, so while I addressed my fiance painstakingly put the invitations together.

Overall we will still be married, but I hate that we put so much care, time and effort into them only to have the USPS treat them so horribly. I've attached a pic (I blocked out the address for privacy) of how they were returned to me. :-(

Most of the invites I liked were worded for brides parents hosting.  You do not need as much space for the wording when a couple is hosting and I was unable to edit the spacing issue on the website I used.  I fixed that by adding ribbon to the invites when they came in and loved them even more!

    2. What are some questions that you’ve had regarding invitations and paper needs for your wedding?

I had asked about proper wording which I am glad I did because I had no idea you could not word "the honor of your presence" for a ceremony that wasn't taking place at a church!

Making sure you proof read and proof read again before giving the invitations a go ahead for printing.  Proof twice, print once!  Lol!
  • Yes I love my future husband but he is so involved he is driving me crazy! My colors are pastel and he wants these wooden post looking invitations. They are so manly, what happened to our cute, intimate, and beautiful spring wedding? Sometimes I think its great how sweet he is but when it comes to the decorations, back of buddy.
My parents divorced when I was six and im very close to my step mother. As far as wording I am so lost. I dont want to hurt my real mothers feelings, but my step mom has been with me through every struggle in my life.
  • Really, USPS? The only postcard stamps you have for 2012 are Hawaiin shirts??? Yes, that goes perfectly with my neutral, vintage theme.
