How to word the RSVP card for "random" plus ones??

So I am giving plus ones to a few guests who are either single or I'm not sure of their relationship status. How do they indicate on the RSVP card if they will be bringing a guest or not? We're on a tight budget, so if 10 people don't bring a guest that I've budgeted for, that's about $1000 that I can spend on something else, so it's important for me to have an accurate guest count.

I purchased an invtation kit from Michaels. Here's a screen shot of the template that came with it. It currently does not have a spot to indicate who will be attending. How would you add it

We wrote in everyone's names(s) on the card on that line. If we didn't know the name of their date, we wrote Mr. Tom Smith and guest. When they replied, they had written a number on the will/will not attend lines.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • If possible, call the guest to find out the name of his or her plus one, and include that person's name on the envelope.  If this isn't possible, or the guest is not sure who he or she will bring, just write "Mr. John Doe and Guest" on the envelope.

Guests typically write the names of those attending on the M__________ line.  If you want, you could change the first blank to "Number Attending" so there is less confusion.
  • I am adding a line that says number of persons _____
As I know many of my friends and family have children, but not sure how many will bring them
  • Been struggling with this too. I think we are going with a line at the top that says: We have reserved seats in your honor ....we will fill in the of seats Then at the bottom we will have Number attending Declines
  • I've gotten this exact RSVP card for the last couple of weddings I attended.  My invitation came addressed to me and guest on the outer envelope.  On the RSVP card I filled in both of our names on the top and then checked the appropriate box.  As a guest it just seemed liked the natural way for me to fill out the RSVP card.
  • I once went to a wedding that had a very tight space, and the RSVP stated:

    • __ of 1 will attend
    • __ of 2 will attend
This way, you are telling them the number of guests can attend!
