Wedding Invitations & Paper

Return address labels?

I will be hand adressing my invitations, both because I think it looks better and because I feel it's more proper etiquette. But is it ok to use labels for the return address on the back of the invitation envelope and on my response cards? I was thinking about creating some clear labels with my address in the wedding colors and a calla lily picture I used on my save-the-dates to tie things together. Is it still considered poor etiquette to use labels, or does that just apply to the recipient's address?

    Yeah.
  • I ordered a custom made stamp from etsy. i also used the stamp for the return address on the back of the envelopes AND for the addressing of the response card envelopes! I ordered a stamp that had a font very similar to my calligraphy on the front of the envelopes. i liked the way it looked, plus i have a stamp i can use forever :) (the stamp was about $25)

as far as address labels are concerned- if thats what you want to do, do it! i almost ordered labels with my invitations, but then i decided on the stamp. it may not be Mrs Manners preferred method of addressing your envelopes- but who really cares? your guests are just going to throw away the envelope anyways!

  • I ordered a custom stamp too, but was too nervous trying to get it straight and was afraid I'd mess too many up, so I ended up getting a cute scalloped edge paper punch, and made my return address labels (just used a glue stick to stick them on).  I think they turned out cute.

Of course, I went all against etiquette and also did wrap around labels on the front, so maybe I'm not the best person to take advise from.  lol

  • I bought an embosser for my return addresses.
  • I used return address labels on our invites and our rsvps, which is against etiquette, but I wasn't going to hand write them or try to print them on the envelopes myself.  As long as you hand write the recipients addresses I think it's fine.  :)
  • i used clear labels on everything (even having nice handwriting)......and also threw etiquette out the window
