Western Attire Invite Wording

So I am getting married in a tree house on a ranch and I want my guests to know they are more than welcome to wear their boots, but I do not want them to wear jeans.  How can I make sure that they know boots are awesome and I love it, but I still want them to dress up some? I want to make sure to put something about the attire on the invitation, but I just dont know how to word it...any suggestions would be awesome!  Thanks!!! :)

Re: Western Attire Invite Wording

  • Unfortunately it's not considered proper ettiquette to tell guests what to wear (unless it's a Black Tie event).

You shouldn't list anything about attire on the invitation.  The formality of the invitation should indicate to guests that they shouldn't wear jeans.

IMO, I could see putting something about wearing boots on your wedding website and directing guests to the website with an insert with you invitations.

  • Wouldnt directing them to my website and telling them what to wear there be the same thing as putting it on the invitation? It's still telling them what to wear...
  • The invitation is a formal communication (even if the style and the wedding are informal) that everyone will see.  The website is an informal communication that not everyone will choose to visit, so the rules are a little looser there.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
