Wedding Invitations & Paper

RSVP names

Please tell me I don't have to write the names on the RSVP cards. They are supposed to write the names of who is coming (or not coming depending on if they all decline), right? I FINALLY got my postage in the mail (the post office didn't have 160 wedding roses stamps lying around) so I can start stamping my envelopes and getting them in the mail.

This is the last little tidbit I'm concerned about.

Also, do I put the RSVP card in it's envelope, then put that with the invite? Or put the RSVP card and RSVP envelope in separately?

Re: RSVP names

  • 1. No you do NOT need to write in everyone's names. I think that's strange, and it's not the traditional way of doing things. Do the standard M______ and let guests fill in their own names. I would suggest having guests write in the number of guests attending, rather than just checking "attend" or not.

2.Tuck the RSVP card under the flap of its envelope, but don't actually stuff it. Also, dont' forge to stamp the RSVP envelope.
  • I did the "M____________" line, and I have still gotten some back where people didn't fill in their names.  I had read this was an issue other brides had, so I took the time to write the family name where you would traditionally put a return address.  I'm glad I did, because it is saving me the hassle of trying to figure out who RSVP'ed.  You don't have to do it, but I think writing the family name on the outside of the envelope might save you some headache later on.

I did postcards instead of RSVP cards & envelopes.
