Should I invite more people?

I found the perfect place for the intimate ceremony I want. They have a package for up to 20 guests.  So far, I've only counted my parents and sister and his parents and sister.  He doesn't have any other family in the country so I kind of feel weird inviting more of my family.  I would like my grandparents on my mom's side to be there, but then I'd have to invite my grandparents on my dad's side and they have a lot of health problems and live 2-3 hours from the ceremony site.  I actually don't think they'd be able to travel at all.  So just invite parents and siblings or expand my invites to include more family?

My H has no one other than his cousins and his two children in this country. It definitely didn't stop me from inviting the family I was close with, which included my aunt and my grandmother. Are you close to your grandparents? I would invite them, but it depends on how small you want the wedding to be. If you decide to invite grandparents, invite both sets. Your dad's parents can decline if they don't think it's possible to travel.

You and your FI do not have any mutual friends that mean a lot to you?

It might help FI to feel less "lopsided" with the guest list, but it's truly up to the both of you.

I would still at least invite the grandparents and let them decide if its too far for them to travel.  I'm sure either way they would enjoy an invitation and being included.
