When addressing the save the dates do I include "& guest" if inviting someone with a date?

No, not if they are truly single and do not have a SO at the moment. Just wait until you send the wedding invitations out.

Try to find out the date's name if at all possible at the time you send out invitations so you can invite him/her by name. Of course, there will be some "plus ones" you won't meet or know by name until your wedding day. Happens to the best of us. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />
  • I disagree a bit.   If you want the person to know that they can bring a date at that time, write 'and guest' because it tells the person that they can book plane tickets / make hotel arrangements for two vs one.   That can be the difference between the date being saved and not saved.

If the person is in a relationship though, get the name.
  • Here's my only concern...  what if they are no longer with that person included on the invitation at the time of the wedding? I always had thought that if they were engaged you put both names and if single then put and guest.

Send the STD to the address of the person you know best. For example, it's your cousin Katie and she's dating Mike... Katie Smith and Mike Jones 123 Katies Address Anytown, USA If you learn that cousin Katie and Mike are no longer dating, let her know she may bring a date of her choosing to the wedding. If you and FI were also friends with Mike, you could extend a separate invitation to him, but it's pretty unlikely he'd expect/want one. Try not to overthink it.
  • If they are no longer with that person, unless they are BOTH your friends, obviously that person would know they are no longer invited and would surely not expect to be.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
