Program for designing invites?

Hi everyone!  

I'm planning on designing/printing my invitations etc. at home.  I have a mac, but I don't have any of the "extra" programs for it.  Does anybody have any suggestions for what might be the best program to buy that will allow me the most freedom in my designs?  What did you use?

    I downloaded Paint.net it was free and it's similar to photoshop

    Since you have a mac, while you're downloading free trials you should try iWork.  I use it for everything and love it.  Pages (its version of Word) allows you to go into layout mode were you can add invisible guidelines, move objects, etc.  It's worked really well for me.
