Wedding Invitations & Paper

Is it tacky to include a diy insert instructing guests to see wedding website.

I ordered a classy looking black pocketfold invitation that has a red border on white cardstock and has black flourishes.  I only ordered the invitation and the reply card, is it tacky if on plain white business cards in a nice font that compliments the invitation  I print that they can view information regarding directions and accomodations on our wedding website?  And should I mention that they can RSVP there also or should I skip that part since I am already including the RSVP card/& stamped envelope?  If this is acceptable, any recommendations on the wording?

  • I'm probably planning on doing the same thing to save money instead of ordering an accessory card with the website address.  Vista Print always has free offers, so I'm going to take advantage of the free business cards.
  • Thats what Im doing. I put, kindly respond by xx date by visiting our website. travel and accomodation and info can also be found at our website,.. its cheaper than having to pay the return postage and i think easier than having things get lost in the mail. I got an invite like that and i just thought it was so much better.

  • We are doing this too. I ordered formal invitations and response cards from Wedding Paper Divas, but I am printing my own inserts that will include directions and our website address. I don't want to rely on the website alone to provide directions because we have some older guests who probably won't know how to access it. We included our website on our STDs but I'm assuming that many guests may not have kept those so I want to include it with the invitations.
  • Thanks for the feedback, I feel better, I found a place in Columbia, MD  that actually sold card stock similar to what is used in the invitation, cut the exact size for the pocket @ $0.25/card, so now I'm going to use the business cards to print a tab to close the pockes.. Wish me luck...my printer likes has a mind  its own lol.   I am working on them now.
  • Personally, I think its tacky.  I think that if you are going to have an invitation suite, you should have all of your inserts match.  Then again, I'm having a very formal wedding, so this would go with my overall theme, but I would raise an eyebrow if I received an invitation in the mail where everything was nicely done and then there was this one additional piece the didn't match anything else.
