Guest List

Anybody elses parents driving them nuts about the guest list?  My future in-laws are paying and I love them dearly for that but they keep adding and adding to the guest list so that we are now inviting more than the space can hold...Any one else having these troubles?  How are you dealing with it?

Talk to them asap.  Tell them, "The room holds X so we need to trim back so that we're only inviting under that #." 

And remember, a room at capacity is at capacity with you, your parents and your vendors - and that's TIGHT.

So make sure that you and your FI sit down and say, "Unfortunately we need to trim back to the # that can definitely fit."

I have the opposite problem.  My family is paying...and I keep asking my parents for their guest list, and they still haven't given it to me!  So, I share in frustration.  Just for different reasons.  And I agree with the above answer on how to handle your situation.

I lied to my IL's - but this is because I was adamant about not sending invites out after others have been sent out because I don't want anyone believing they were b-listed.  Needless to say, after having six months (and not getting STDs to some folks) to come up with addresses, they were still trying to send out more.  I lied and said I only had yay many invites left and that I wanted a few for scrapbooking, etc.
