Keeping pocketfolds closed --- ideas?

I'm stuck trying to figure a way to close my pocketfolds.  Originally I was going to tie them closed with raffia ribbon, but 1) I'm not sure this will fit in the envelope (they're pretty snug with just the pocketfold in it) and 2) I'm concerned the bump in the envelope will cause problems going through the mail (I've heard some horror stories on my club board).

So, my questions are these:

1) has anyone used raffia ribbon, or something similar, and did they make it through the mail okay?

2) What are other ways I could "seal" the pocketfolds without bulking up the envelope?

My next choice is a belly band (with our monogram; the monogram will be attached, as a square of cardstock over the flap of the pocketfold, in any case).  Are these really confusing to guests (how to remove them)?

PS. I'm using Cards & Pockets paper, pocketfolds and envelopes, if that helps.  Anyone else find these envelopes kind of snug?

TIA!

Re: Keeping pocketfolds closed --- ideas?

  • I had this issue.  I just went to Michael's and got some of those little stickers and did them that way.
  • I am using Vista Print address labels, which are always advertised for free. I uploaded my monogram and only paid for the shipping. The address label will hold the pocket fold close and adhere ribbon that will wrap around the pocket fold.
  • Yes, the envelopes are snug, but it works.  I did belly bands, but instead of our monogram, it has the guests names since we don't have inner envelopes.  PIB.

I think tasteful stickers are fine too.

<div>Thanks for your response!  What kind of stickers did you get?  Were they fasteners?</div>

  • I bought Elmers removable glue stick and used that to keep our pockets closed. It basically turned the tab into a post it. The glue dries clear and it's not clumpy so when your guests open the pocket they wont even notice there is any kind of adhesive there.

  • Thanks for all the responses (I thought I had posted this yesterday but I must have forgotten to press send and got distracted)!  I'm glad to know the belly band would work in the Cards & Pocket envelope.  Not sure what I'll do yet, but these are all great options.

    Thanks again!
