Electronic RSVP

We are doing rsvp by phone or online via our wedding webiste. My trouble is on how to word it. I have been looking online and have not been able to wording that goes with. Some examples would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Electronic RSVP

  • I'm not a fan of doing it this way, but here's some wording you could use.

The favor of a reply is requested by June 1, 2013

Are you sure you don't want to offer a traditional reply but add the online option as well? My fiance and I thought that would really increase our odds of a response from the majority since so many of our friends/family are really comfortable online.

We just had a line at the bottom of our card that said "You may also reply by visiting "oursite.com". I asked the girls here and they didn't seem to think it would confuse any who would have no idea what to do if they weren't computer savvy. Why would you exclude a mail back?

I've included a pic if it helps you...

ETA: Also, I learned it's really important to thoroughly check out your site host and make sure their RSVP feature works well. I had my sister "fake rsvp" with a number of guests and meal choices to make sure that it was all easy to track and accurate.

  • You might want to rethink this.  Couples who have done email/phone RSVPs notoriously don't get RSVPs, and you have to make a TON of follow up calls.  When you give them a postage paid envelope to send in their RSVP, they are more likely to drop it in the mail. If they have to take your invitiaton to their computer or call, they usually say "oh, we'll do this later", and then never get around do it.

If cost is a factor, consider using RSVP postcards.
  • We provided both a traditional and online RSVP option.  Of the 210 people invited, only about 12 used the online option.  Even our young, computer-savvy friends largely replied the traditional way.  Just my two cents.
  • Doing the online RSVP is just too easy to forgot. Having a traditional RSVP (even a postcard style) is a great reminder - each time they walk by it they will think of you until it is done.
  • Stick with the traditional mail in RSVP.  You'll get a much better response rate.  Not to mention it is one of the most important events in your life.....you want it to be treated a bit more formally and less like one is responding to a summer BBQ.
  • we are doing RSVP through the wedding website as well. Our wedding is a little less formal, and little more worldly, so I was thinking of something along the lines of "Save a Tree! Go here to RSVP"
