Wedding Invitations & Paper

Save the Date?

Do I need to send SD's to the priest and organist that we will have at our wedding?  They have both already told my parents they will not be attending the reception, even tough they are invited and will be getting a wedding invitation.  Also, we have a list of family members that live across the country, who we know will not be attending the wedding due to expenses and age, but they are getting invites.  Do they need to get a SD's as well?

Re: Save the Date?

  • I probably wouldn't send one to the priest or organist, but might send one to the OOT family. Unless you've directly talked to them, I don't think you're ever 100% sure they won't travel; they might surprise you!

  • Thanks!

Im almost 100% sure my family wont travel, they are all older (80+), (except cousins and some aunt/uncles, but wont come if patriarchs of fam dont) and don't fly, so they would have to try to make it from MA to IN; they also didnt make it to either of my sisters weddings.  My FI's family Im not sure of, never met them, but my FMIL is about 95% sure they wont make it, they also didnt come to my FBIL's wedding.
  • I wouldn't send one to anybody who is in contract with your wedding date (photog, musicians, dj, etc).

The only reason I would recommend sending to OOT family is other family members might assume they will get one and ask "What did you think of eseney's STD's?" which would lead them to say "We didn't get one" and might hurt their feelings.

We had people we knew wouldn't be able to make it to the wedding so we sent wedding announcements as opposed to invites (but they were people we knew wouldn't be offended by not received an invite).
