So I just sent out our invite and I keep thinking that theyre going to come back and certain people are going to add dates onto their rsvp...has this happened to anyone?
I'm sure it happens a lot, that's why people tell brides to be super specific on their invitations, and to prepare to make phone calls if this sort of thing happens.
We had someone add their two (very young) kids, who were not invited. We did not say anything, accommodated the kids' needs (high chairs and special meals), and moved forward. The kids didn't make a fuss, so everything was fine. We likely lucked out .... not so sure it is as easy if the uninvited guests are full grown adults.
We let the few people who did add people slide. First off we received some no RSVP's so we had spots available, Second some of the people who said they were bringing a date ended up not anyway so what harm did it cause, and Third it wasn't really worth our time to fight with people over something as silly as a date. If they wanted to bring someone to our wedding, go for it.
We had the opposite...our single friends rsvp'd with just them. We budgeted to allow our single friends to bring a date and only one (out of 13) brought a date. I was worried that families would rsvp for their kids so I put on the rsvp "We have reserved x amount of seats in you honor" so they all got the hint.
