Wedding Invitations & Paper

Email invites?

I was going through one of my bridal magazines, and it said to save money to do email invites instead of paper? How can you make it nice? Maybe Evite? I think this is a good way but a little unsure how to present it. We are only have 50 people at our wedding and reception.

Re: Email invites?

  • Yikes, I would be afraid they would end up in a spam folder and they wouldn't get your invitation! Plus it's nice to have a paper map/information for the day of. People usually read the wedding invitation, hold on to it and save it for the day of to refer to for directions and addresses.
I could see emails getting overlooked or easily lost/deleted.

  • Ditto.  Evites are too informal & vistaprint has affordable options.

    I see two things happening:
Many of the younger people will judge you (but you may be ok with that)
The older people who aren't as internet savvy would feel slighted/confused/etc.  Although if you have email addresses for everyone invited you might feel ok with this issue.

Just having a wedding website on our save the dates was enough to confuse some of our older relatives.  My mom had me make direction cards to/from the ceremony on vistaprint because she told me her older friends/relatives didn't know how to use a GPS.  Don't overestimate your guests' ability to use technology ;)

If you are having a super informal get together then it might not be an issue.  I see evites as working for bbq's, casual housewarmings, parties, etc.  Baby showers and all things wedding I consider paper events.
  • I gotcha I spoke to my fiance and he said no to that too, he really wants invites and so do I. I was really curious as to what you ladies thought. :)
  • I'm also having a small wedding and one area I'm not willing to spend a lot of money on is invites.  But still, there is absolutely no way I'd go for an email invite.  I wouldn't want anybody to feel like they weren't worth the time or a few dollars to get a paper invite.  Besides that, you wouldn't have a little momento to keep!

I found a website with really good prices on invites you might want to look at: www.peartreegreetings.com They don't have a huge selection, but they do have invitations in both classic and contemporary designs and you can change the color on every single one to match your scheme!  Most are about $1.30 if you are getting 30 plus invites.  This is the route I'm taking!
