Table Numbers!

Hi everyone,
I saw a picture in one of the knot albums where the bride used meaningful numbers instead of chronological 1 - 20.  I love the idea and have been brainstorming but I need 22 numbers... and I have done all of the standards - day we got engaged, zip code of our hometown, birthday, how many days we have been together etc.  I was hoping you guys might have some ideas for some special numbers because I am totally stuck!
Thanks :)

Re: Table Numbers!

  • It's a cute idea.  But impractical.  The thing with numbers is that they go in order, and it makes it easy for your guests to find their table.  If you start giving things cutesy names and numbers, it defeats the "easy" part of that.

Numbers WITH a name are ok, in my opinion.  But just names are difficult.

  • I agree, can you imagine having 100 people walk into a room and they are all wandering all over the place to figure out where table 90210 is???? I think it makes sense to be more logical and use numbers in order...like PP said, you could do names with the table numbers but I would keep it simple...and people may not "get it" -
  • Why not go the other way and try to make the numbers 1 - 22 meaningful?  If you have dates (first date, first kiss, day he proposed, first vacation, first major purchase together, etc.) you could map those to the numbers

    1 - your first date
    2 - 2 favorite foods
    3 - 3 favorite restaurants
    etc.

  • I'm having a beach wedding and I'm making the table numbers myself.  I went to the beach and wrote each tabel number in the sand and put one or 2 shells in the pic.  It adds to the theme yet isn't over-doing it.

Trust me... I played around with the table numer idea for about 2 months.. I was going to name each table things like Sand Dollar, High tide.... etc. etc... But in the end it made more sense to stick with numbers.

I hope this helps a little.

  • Thanks everyone!  I am having a beach wedding too so maybe I'll just stick with numbers.  Probably way easier for 200 people anyway!

I made my own version of this....  If you live close enough to the beach, you can too!
