Wedding Invitations & Paper

Guest List Problems

At our venue we are only able to have 200 people, and I am having some major issues narrowing down our guest list to match the requirements.

There are some family members on my guest list that are from out of town that I know probably won't make it but would be hurt if they didn't get an invite.

My question is how do I know when to send out invites to family members, even if I know they probably won't attend,  so that I can count them out and start inviting people off my wish list and leave them enough time to respond?

Re: Guest List Problems

  • You need to cut the guest list to 200 or you need to find a larger venue.

There's just no good way to tier your invitations or to invite people that you don't really have space for.
  • Echo PPs.  Don't invite more that the venue can hold.  You never know who may surprise you and come to the wedding.

I didn't over-invite and can host all my guests, but there were some people on my list I thought "for sure" would not be coming.  Some of my guests are already asking about and researching accommodations (all my guests are OOT) to come to the ceremony.

And don't have a B list.  It may come back to bite you and make some people upset if/when they find out.
  • Everyone here is right; if you have a B list people will find out and they will be hurt. Don't do it.

We all have to make tough choices when it comes to our guest list; it's just part of the game.
