Our invites were competely DIY. I wanted to do something that showed that my fiance and I worked on each invite together and that was unique. I got the idea from these custom napkins that I found online and thought that the napkins would be a cute way to do invites, rather than using paper. We also wanted incorporate the little milestones we've had along the way onto the invites. I designed the artwork that was going to be silkscreened on each napkin. My fiance and I silkscreened each napkin, which took about 2 hours).  On the back of our RSVP cards, I printed a collage of pictures of us silkscreening. With all the supplies (napkins, two custom rubber stamps, kraft photo mailer envelope), renting the silkscreening studio for a few hours, and the postage (we had to use 5 stamps so that was a good bulk of the cost), we spent around 500 for about 100 invites. It turned out great but it was a looooooooot of work.
  • www.vistaprint.com. I haven't ordered invites yet, but they will come out to less than $2 per invitation, including RSVP and reception card. No DIY required except addressing invitations.
  • We got ours from Jenn Herrington of La Belle Vie Design - www.labelleviegirl.com

We paid $400 for 150 invitations, map, RSVP card, RSVP envelope and lined envelope.  She mocked up literally 8 different styles and we loved them all!  It was really hard to pick and we ended up asking her to also do thank you cards with another more funky style she designed for us.  I am thrilled with how they turned out!

  • Major thanks to squirrly and her templates!

Pockets, envelopes, and paper purchased from PaperandMore.com.  Dark purple paper purchased from MyGatsby.com.  I cut all of the invitations and inserts to size with my Cricut.  Oh, and I bought the lace online from Debslace-n-trims.com

I got my invitations from mygatsby.com.  They are all in thermography printing.  These images are the renderings from the website, not the actual pieces.  They came out to $3.70 each before postage.

Ignore the fact that the border isn't aligned properly, that's an issue with the rendering but the actual invitation is fine.

  • I'm finally starting to put together my invites to get them ready to send in the next week or so.  I am a teacher so I am trying to get as much wedding stuff I can before I go back to work!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my invites!  I had them designed by DesignsMadeEasy on Etsy.  Stephanie was more than amazing!  She has unlimited revisions...and believe me I was starting to feel bad because I was contacting her everyday for weeks to have her change something daily.  And she was so responsive, quick and patient with me...seriously contact her if you need any invites. If you can't find her on Etsy I have her email.

She designed my invite, RSVP, insert and monogram for $20.  And then I bought a metallic cardstock from Paper and More and had them printed at FedEx. I then went to Hobby Lobby and bought ribbon and rhinestone embellishments to make it complete.  I still need the outer and RSVP envelopes which I will get from Paper and More as well.

So for each invite its about $1.65...skipping the pocketfolds saved me well over $100.  I originally wanted pocketfolds but I saw someone do a familiar stack version like mine and loved it...and in the end saved money!!!
I am super happy how they turned out! Really simple but nice!!!

I took pics of the invites tonight.  They kinda suck, and I tried and tried to get good ones, but this is as good as it got.  You can't tell at all how beautiful the color of the paper is, or that it sparkles.  It's really lovely in person, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

For reference, the paper goods are Metallic Lilac by Cards & Pockets.  And the evelopes are Black Tie (smooth/matte) by C&P.

    Thanks for looking!

ETA:  Mostly DIY.  I ordered the paper from C&P and printed everything at work.  I used Publisher to design everything.  And if I figured it up right, with printing and postage, they cost me around $1.40 per invite.
  • FI and FBIL are amazing! We "hired" FBIL to do ALL of our paper products. This includes, Save-the-Dates, Invites, RSVP's, Maps, Hotel Info cards, Place Cards, Table Numbers, Charity Donation cards, Champagne Bottle Guest Book Card, and Bathroom Basket cards. We paid him $400 for everything.
And he is putting them together great so we will have I think 4 invites on each sheet of paper, 6 save the dates on each sheet of paper, etc. So it will be price friendly when it is time to print them.

Guest Book Card, & Bathroom Basket Cards:

    RSVP"s:
    Save the Dates:
    Invites: (excuse my erasing skills)

So, we have a lot more to go. But so far so good :)

    imageimageAnniversary
  • Shoot, he is also doing the Thank You cards. and we are inviting 190 guests.
    imageimageAnniversary
  • I just ordered them today! They're perfect, and I can't wait to see the finished product!

    Here's the link: http://www.crane.com/weddings/wedding-preparations/Wedding%20Invitation/WeddingInvitationDesignCenter/EmbassyEcruwhiteMonogrammedLetterpressInvitations?PID=LWC9326B&pcat=wedding-invitations

The invitation suite breaks down to about $13 per invite (including double envelopes, printed return addresses, reception card, and rsvp set), but with postage and calligraphy, it'll probably be more like $15/$16 each. Thank goodness we only have 65 to send!
  • my invites were just under 0.90 each (not counting postage, which was just a .44 stamp). i got supplies from several places. blue and orange cardstock and ribbon was from Craftwarehouse. Invitation Kits were on clearance at Joann's. Printing and white cardstock was from Staples. double sided tape from Office Max and Walmart (walmart was almost $2 less/3 pack).
more pics / step by step / info in my blog here
    here are a few pics

So here is the cost breakdown for your curiosity:
invite kits: 3 x 3.97 = 11.91 (all I used was the 2 kits worth of envelopes the rest of the kit will be used elsewhere though)
    blue cardstock: 115 sheets at 0.09 each = 10.23
    orange cardstock: 20 sheets at 0.09 each = 1.72
    sheer silver ribbon: 3 x .80= 2.40
Printing at Staples 50 pages of invites(2 per page) +25 pages of RSVPs(4 per page) = $36.75
cardstock $14.99 (way more sheets than I actually used)
double sided tape: 5 rolls 11.20ish (I forget exactly the cost)
for 100 invites (includes extras) = $89.20 <$0.90 each invite. not counting postage.
The postage ended up only being $0.44 each since they were like 0.8 oz. we saved some postage by hand delivering a few. We also saved on postage by opting for phone/online rsvps. .

it was significantly less expensive to buy a package of cardstock and give it to the printing center at staples than it was to have them print them onto cardstock. the price was 0.98/sheet to print on their cardstock only.49/sheet on my  own cardstock. i got i think 500 sheets of cardstock for $15 and had i realized ahead of time, i would have bough cardstock elsewhere for even less $.

  • Wow.  You girls have some amazing invites.  And most of them are DIY?!  I am really impressed.  I lack all artistic/creative skill, as well as patience, so I don't really think DIY is for me :-/

  • Completely DIY-ed, I made my templates on Open Office.

I am purchasing my supplies from paperandmore.com and for 50 invites it is going to cost me a little over $100; however, I will have enough cardstock and vellum left over to make my menus.

DIY invites.  Paper supplies are from Paper and More.  Before postage, they ended up at around $2.50 per invite (including the paper trimmer I had to buy).

  • DIY our invites. Got all the supplies from a scrapbook store. They ended up costing about $1.5 per invite, and I still have enough paper for our menus and programs.

  • Here's ours....

We did them ourselves for a total of about $300. One of our groomsmen drew the flowers which are what the bridesmaid bouquets are going to look like.
