Wedding Invitations & Paper

Invitation help

I've been in search of the perfect invitations and honestly having so much trouble finding something I love. My groom, as well as, my family don't understand why I'm going crazy over an invitation especially since they all say that its a piece of paper that our guest will be throwing away. However to me it is not just a piece of paper. I'm sure you all can all relate to me.
I did fall in love with a design thats so out of my price range. I dreamed of a lace and broach invitation. It was so classic and elegant. That vintage yet glamorous vibe.
So i need your help, where are you all getting your invitations from. Please comment websites, blogs or anything that can show me more designs and hopefully I can find me perfect invitation :)
Thanks everyone looking forward to your responses.

I used a company called Shine Wedding Invitations that I found through Etsy

Lots of brides here on TK have success with Wedding Paper Divas or Vistaprint
  • I ordered mine through DB but I was on that "nobody cares of a piece of paper bandwagon"

I found two listings on Etsy that have what you're looking for.

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/118042629/thai-silk-with-lace-and-brooch-elegant

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/105220839/brooch-wedding-invitation-crystal-lace

Have you considered DYI? The one I sent you only has the lace on the outside so maybe that's something you can do to save costs.
  • I had a hard time, too. The ones I loved from Wedding Paper Divas were going to cost me $600! I only paid $450 for my dress!   We ended up finding some from David's Bridal that fit what we were looking for.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We used Wedding Paper Divas, and we were extremely happy with the quality.

I ordered mine from this website:

I just received my order today and they are absolutely perfect. Beautiful quality and look exaclty as specified online. Customer service was great too... I caught a mistake on the proof they sent me after I'd submitted my order and they called me right away after I'd emailed their customer service department. We made changes over the phone and they sent me a new proof to approve before printing. My order was submitted on 2/25, shipped on 2/28 and delivered to my door via UPS today, 3/6. Amazing.

I also ordered samples from this website:

The quality is wonderful and they also have fantastic customer service. I matched a design from them (for programs and escort cards) to the invites I ordered from the site above and they coordinate perfectly. I also called customer service to request a particular font and ask if I could get a program and menu sample instead of an invitation sample and they happily sent me what I'd requested in addition to the invitation sample! Very nice!

I highly recommend these two sites. Good Luck

btw; I totally understand your viewpoint on the importance of the invitation design. Mine was literally the FIRST thing I selected when I got engaged and the rest of my decor choices (including my venue) revolved around the design and colors of my invitation stationary :)

I know. I thought that was crazy but the OP didn't mention being on a budget. That's why I told her she might want to look into making them herself.
  • I am in  the EXACT same situation. Especially with people telling you, "The invitation sets the tone for your whole wedding." Sure, no pressure.

I'm sorry I don't have a site suggestion because I am still looking as well, but here's something I wish someone would have told me: usually you can't order personalized samples. If you want a different color from what is shown, you will have to rely on a digital proof AFTER you order the invitations. It would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation if I I had known this.
  • Davids Bridal invitations are made by Carlson Craft.  Google Carlson Craft discounts or Carlson Craft best price.  I lot of vendors offer great discounts.  Also, Party City offers a  great discount on them and have lots of books to go through.

<div>yes thats completely out of budget. Please tell me who would be able to afford $29 each. The original invitations I loved were $7 each but I'm having an extremely large wedding so it caused those invites to be double my budget. I would need anywhere from 400-500 invites, which causes a DIY project to be a little too much. Which causes me to start the search all over again.</div>

<div>I personally didnt like the design of Carlson craft, not because the quality because its very good quality but mainly because the style was a little to simple for what I was aiming for. However if any other brides out there want a Carlson Craft invitation look into ordering through Bed Bath & Beyond because you can use a 20% off coupon and that ends up saving a nice little bit of money. Just a friendly hint </div>

  • Have you seen these?

    http://www.invitationsbydavidsbridal.com/Wedding-Invitations/Lace-Invitations/2947-DBN9855O8B-Lace-Wrap--Lapis--Invitation.pro

I ordered mine through Davids Bridal but since the ribbon is sold seperately; I purchased through Papermart.com. It was no big deal because I only had to assemble 150. I can see where putting together 500 could get tricky. You can have your FI help.

Party City also does custom made invitations.

I saw a pictorial in a bridal magazine detailing the features that made the bespoke invitations cost $250 (not a typo) each.
