Thanks for the more in-depth article- I read a short brief about this in the newspaper this morning. I can't believe this guy has gotten away with this for 34 years. I don't always agree with the ACLU, but I do here. This excerpt from the article drives me nuts: If he did an interracial marriage for one couple, he must do the same for all, he said. "I try to treat everyone equally," he said.HA! I don't think so!!

Oh yea, that line pissed me off too. And what's up with saying "piles and piles of black friends?" I don't know exactly why that phrase bothers me, but I think part of it is that using the term "piles" makes it sound like he's merely talking about material things, if that makes any sense.

I think I'm going to try to use "piles and piles" of anything this weekend, and watch how quickly my friends look at me to see if I've grown a second and third head! Where I grew up there were a lot of people that were and still are very openly racist it was terrible and I'm glad to be away from that, I worry a lot about my nieces growing up still living in that area. I find it sad a disturbing that people can't move on from mistakes of the past.

Seriously?  I echo Erica's statement about getting with the times.  I don't care what people's personal beliefs are, but when you hold a public office you need to follow the letter of the law, not what you personally think is correct.

Wow...thats really disappointing and upsetting. What a complete idiot. Is our president not mixed? God forbid he was because such a rough upbringing and so much suffering from being mixed...he would have never made it to where he is now!Me and my fiance are an interracial couple and i hope we don't run into an bigots like that here in pittsburgh while trying to get a marriage license
