Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh

restaurant suggestions... please

FI childhood's best friends father is in town today... wants to meet up for dinner tonight. We have no idea where to go (since we live south of the city we don't eat in the city often). He's staying at the Omni William Penn Hotel. We want something super close to there and pretty unviersal with food selection. We will have my son with us so a childrens menu would be great. Moderately priced. Any sugestions? TIA

There's a nice-looking restaurant in the WP's lobby called the Terrace Room- it might be a little pricey, but I'm sure they have children's options.  Palomino and Sonoma Grill are both sort of nearby, and they have a good variety of options and aren't crazy expensive, while still being fun and nice.  There's also a Capital Grille (steakhouse) nearby, I think.

Ditto Tambellini's! Also check out the Grill on 7th (sandwich and fries kind of place), 6th Penn (might be a bit too grown up for your son), Lemongrass Cafe (Thai and Cambodian), and Sonoma Grill (California Bistro type place).

Bravo Franco is good--they probably have pumpkin tortellini--YUM!!  I second Six Penn, Sonoma.  I also like the Cabaret at Theater Square.

Warning: Sonoma Grille is not moderately priced. It is yummy though. I like Grille on Seventh and Six Penn a lot (can get a bit pricier too). The food at Olive or Twist is delicious.

I love Olive or Twist!  I got hammered there last year after seeing Mama Mia. No recommendations from me because I haven't been to dinner in the city in forever.
