RSVP & Save the Date

Is it bad to have the RSVP in the save the date instead of the invite and then only send invites to the people that RSVP?

Re: RSVP & Save the Date

  • And anyone who receives a save the date MUST receive an invitation.  Plans change and its tough to be 100 percent certain about your schedule 6--8 months in advance.
  • All the PPs have said exactly what I was going to say.

[QUOTE]The problem with asking people to RSVP to a Save the Date is that it's WAY too far in advance. So I would just do it the "normal way".  Send STDs now (or not at all since you're six months out), and then send invitations with RSVPs 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

A save the date is an announcement that you are getting married on a certain date and the addressee will receive an invitation in the future.  It's not an invitation, and doesn't require a response.  Only send STDs to those you know you will invite to the wedding.
