Digital camera recs?

So, we have a Canon Powershot & it sucks. Bad. And we bought it maybe a year ago. We've tried to fix the problems using the manual and the pictures always turn out crappy. We clearly need something super-easy and I'm not trying to spend more than $200.I'm thinking of getting a Nikon Coolpix at Sam's Club tonight. 10 mp and it's $108.Any suggestions? I used Consumer Reports or some web site last time, when we got the Canon and it had great ratings, but it sucks. So I'd like to get feedback from real people who actually use & like their cameras this time!

What is the kind that Ashton Kutcher uses in all of those commercials? Mike has one and it is great. He did tons of research before buying it.

It's Nikon Coolpix that Ashton endorses! Hmmm, that reminds me...I forgot about him in our "List of 5" post. Might have to bump David Schwimmer, since he's all washed up and has no work anymore. I need a working man, after all, so I can stay home and have babies. Wait...was that list just for one night or for a relationship? LOL. I'm clearly in stream-of-consciousness mode! Anyway, I can't wait to have a camera that actually works well! :-)

Thanks, Jenn! I think I'm ruling out the Canon Powershot, though. It's clearly too advanced for us. :-P

Ahhh - I'm considering moving away from it to a SLR, because just playing with the digital settings isn't fun enough anymore!

Well, I can vouch for the Coolpix. Mike's works great. And Ashton is hawt. What more proof do you need? And def bump Schwimmer off. He is all kinds of wrong now.

We have the Nikon Coolpix too - I like it a lot.  I seem to remember that someone had one they didn't like though and didn't rec it in the past.  I had a Kodak EasyShare that I really disliked.  HTH a little!

Some people are Nikon people and some people are Canon people. :) I too use the Powershot as my point and shoot. I love that it has an underwater housing for snorkeling and other beach stuff. The Olympus 1220 (could be wrong on the numbers) is a good camera that is waterproof up to 30 feet. If you are planning on any beach vacations in the next few years, I'd go with that. It is super compact. The mp thing is sort of a marketing ploy. For example, my DSLR is "only" 6mp, my point and shoot is 8mp. But there is NO comparison on picture quality. The 6mp kicks the other one's butt! :)
