Guest List

Hi, I have my guest list figured out and it is inserted onto the Guest List Manager on this site, but I was wanting to make an excel list as well.  Has anyone else done this before? I started making my own with just the guest, address, and whether they have RSVP'ed yet or not, but it seems like it's just a bunch of thinks jumbled together.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to set this up, or how they've done it before? I want something that is easy to read and manage, and that doesn't look like I just threw a bunch of stuff onto the page.  Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

(I tried exporting the list from the knot to my computer, but I don't have the correct program to open it or view it in that format, so that won't work)

Re: Guest List

  • I have an excel sheet with the following categories:

Name (2 lines, for unmarried people bringing guests)
    address
    city
    state
    ZIP
phone (in case I need to track down an RSVP)
    Number invited
STD (whether it has been sent/needs to be sent/doesn't need one)
Invitation (again, whether it needs to be sent)
    RSVP (yes/no)
    gift
Thank you note (whether it has been sent)
    Actual number attending

  • One thing I wish I had thought about when making my spreadsheet (similar but not as comprehensive as PP) was making a mail merge from it. The way I did it make it really complicated to try and mail merge it. Depending on how you will be addressing your invites that could be a problem. Also if you are having a calligrapher address your invites, find out what format they need in the beginning.

Hopefully my hindsight helps you a little.
  • If you look in the templates section of my bio, there's an excel template for what I use.  I have it setup to mail merge for wraparound labels, and the templates for those are in there as well.
