Wedding Invitations & Paper

Invitation Clash

Him and I are both very fun and little kids at heart and we want everyone to have fun at our wedding, however I always wanted a real classy and elegant wedding and we got to talking about the invitations. He saw these really cool Mario Bros. invitations and his heart was set on them. I actually loved it! thought it was awesome BUT I fear its going to clash with the look of the wedding. Any ideas on how to incorporate what he wants with what I want?

here is the link to the invite that he saw, incase you have time or want to take a look to give me your suggestions :)

thanks, God bless you Smile

Re: Invitation Clash

  • In my opinion, you can do pretty much anything and make it classy, so long as you don't overdo it.  You can have little hints that point towards what you enjoy as a couple, without it looking like a child's birthday party. I think the invitations lean a little bit more towards the latter, but if everyone knows that he's a gamer, they'll probably get a kick out of it.

As far as your reception goes, you could have a simple white square  3 tier cake, iced with white fondant and have a few of those man eating flowers that would come out of pipes? Not sure what theyre called. But you know, have a cluster on the edges, and a mario and bride cake topper. Or you could have your classy cake, and he could have a mario groom's cake.

With decor, you can just decorate in grays, red, and black...Like a nintendo cartridge, and it would still be classy, and not clash. You might consider setting up a couple of televisions off to the side of the reception, with old school nintendo games, and people could play them during cocktail hour.

I think the key is just having the subtle cues, rather than having a huge "theme". Its easy for themes to become tacky.

  • Can you use those for your STDs?
  • You could theme a groom's cake around the invitations!
I would definitely not be expecting an elegant wedding if I received that invitation, so just for the sake of not confusing your guests, I would not use those invitations.
Save the date or groom's cake would be good, I think :)
  • PS those invitations are amazing, haha
  • I saw this awesome Super Mario Bros cake from a local knottie several years ago and it would go perfectly with your wedding invites!

@seesawgirl this is great advice thank you so much :) I have to talk to him again because a few day's ago he randomly told me the mario thing was getting out of his system, since he made a mock mario wedding favor and that he is now leaning more towards traditional invites. @lovethebeach16 and cebrady89  I think you guys are right, maybe incorporating it in a more subtle way would be best. thank you for you advice God bless you and @trixie549 the cakes is amazing thanks. God bless you guys this is helpful :)
