Knottie vibes are the shizz

GOOD news (relatively)!! (forgive cut and paste wonky text)   The doc just called. I do have a Syrinx (build up of fluid, not a small creature native to Asia) in my spinal cord, but it is very small and probably won’t require surgery. It was probably there since I was born. She wants me to see a Neurosurgeon just to be safe and to find out what we need to do to monitor the size of it over the years since it can get bigger, but she doubts that I’ll need surgery. She also said that it doesn’t have anything to do with my back pain. She said that is muscular and that I need PT (boo). So, I’m calling to schedule PT pronto. She will have her secretary call me with the name of a neurosurgeon soon.   Phew!

I am relieved for you. How weird, a little fluid build-up? Bodies are weird, that's all I can say!Good luck with PT!
  • edited December 2011
I know... a "little' fluid build up is strange. Every time I Googled Syrinx, it jsut said 'fluid build up that requires surgery'. Nothing about sizes. THAT would have helped me nto worry so much. Stupid Google! :P

I frequently have web-md induced hysteria!  I can't help it - I have to web-md everything.  It is a sickness in itself, really.  ;)

I gave up on webmd. I swear, no matter what is wrong with me, it includes heart attack in my list of potential illnesses! Alarmist much?

Hooray!  Hope the PT whips you back into shape and you can start making babies!

Yeah, I'm not a WebMD-er. The symptom checker is ridic. I am more of a Google until I find the right keywords in the short description adn then read that article. :P
