Wedding Invitations & Paper

Making Own Invitations

Anyone out there design/make their own wedding invitations? Just looking for some tips and tricks.... I have a pretty good paper supply company identified which is looking to offer printing (for a charge of course). I figured since I took a graphic design class in college and like that type of stuff shouldn't be such as issue.

  • I am a very reasonable graphic designer and have assisted with many designs.  I would be happy to design your wedding invitation for only $30.00...and you could have printed on your fabulous paper!  I also design monogram stickers, save the dates, table cards etc.  I could make you a package deal on your entire "Wedding Suite"!   Email me @ valeriealocalartist@gmail.com!

  • I am toying with the idea of designing our invites, if not, etsy has a lot of designs available for sale, fairly reasonably priced.

  • I designed, printed, and assembled my invitations. I found an example of somebody else's invitations that I liked online, tweaked it to my theme and went with it. I used Microsoft Word publishing layout on Mac to make the invitations and all enclosures the right size and the layout I wanted. I considered using cards & pockets' printing option but saved the money by investing in a paper cutter and putting my BM's to work :)

  • We are in the process of designing all of our invitations. I have our STDs designed, just did a proof print on VP, and going to make some tweaks tonight before we finalize everything.

I'll do all the assembly myself as well. :)

  • My H designed all our paper products using Adobe Illustrator. If you are familiar with the program, it is a lot easier to use that Word for this type of thing. Our invitations we used Cards & Pockets for printing, for the escort cards, programs, signs, etc we bought a printer and used the manual feed tray. It was all relatively simple.

If you are using an outside printer, make sure you get all their requirements-the types of files they accept, if they need a full bleed, margins, etc. Ask about receiving proofs before printing the whole batch.
