Wording for No kids please

We are planning a black tie wedding and would strongly prefer not to have any children at our wedding. How could we word that so it doesn't come off harsh or offensive?

Re: Wording for No kids please

  • You could say "over 21 or over 18 only" underneath "Reception to follow"... But if you are planning on allowing teens then that wouldnt work.
  • Make your RSVP cards say "Mr. John Smith ____ accepts ______declines"
"Ms. Sally Smith ____ accepts_______ declines"

I saw this from another person when I was inquiring about the "no kids" thing.

Basically - its YOUR wedding and if you want to put "Adults Only" on the invitation then do it. I am either doing that or doing it on the response cards - because you never know if someone will rsvp themselves and then bring their kids if say, they "couldn't get a sitter". AVOID the confusion beforehand so you aren't stressed on your big day!

  • You could also add a line under the line where they fill in their name that says
"___ number of seats have been reserved in your honor" and then just fill in the number for each set of invites. That's what I did and it's worked well so far. And it's not as rude as saying "no kids"
