Wedding Invitations & Paper

DIY Invitations?

Any tips or suggestions?  I'm going to try this myself and get the invites & RSVP cards from Target or Michaels.  Maybe add some ribbon and a small starfish at the top for my beach wedding theme?  Also, would love to see pics of your DIY invites for some inspiration!

Re: DIY Invitations?

  • I did DIY invites from Michael'.  Easy to do just time consuming.  I liked the result.  Good selection at Michael's.
  • We did our invitations from scratch and I think it turned out very nice. We have kind of a travel theme going, but the basic idea would work for anyone. I'm not very crafty either, so they're very simple.

Bought cards and a personal stamp on ebay, got photobooth pictures made and bought some string and paper for luggage tags. Plus glue and a good knife. Inside, we had the program and link to our website on one side, and then wrote a personal invitation text on the other side. Our guests really loved the personal message, but that might take some energy if you have a lot of guests.

And yes - we got different kinds of photobooth pictures, so grandmothers didn't get the looking-at-boobs one Innocent
  • I was married last summer in Hawaii.  I hired someone on Etsy to make a digital design for me, then I printed them myself.  I also included DIY pocket folds (really easy) and DIY envelope wraps.  I loved doing it this way because I got a custom invitation, but I could save a TON toward my budget by printing them myself (I used Vistaprint).

Here's one Etsy site that has some cute digital designs.  They just email you a pdf:
