WR poll (ceremony)

I have ceremonies on the brain - How long was your ceremony? - Did you write you own vows? - Did you have any special ceremonies within the ceremony? (sand, unity candle etc.) - How many (if any) readings did you have? - Who (if any) read your chosen readings? - Did you have a receiving line? -Did you and your FI disagree on anything having to do with the ceremony? - Would you change anything about you ceremony now that it is over?

    - How long was your ceremony? Roughly an hour (with communion)- Did you write you own vows? No, used the Catholic ones- Did you have any special ceremonies within the ceremony? Unity Candle- How many (if any) readings did you have? Catholic, so 3- Who (if any) read your chosen readings? E's Aunt, My SIL, Our Friend from College- Did you have a receiving line? Yes. I am so glad I did! We missed some people at the reception because they were going around playing with the penguins.-Did you and your FI disagree on anything having to do with the ceremony? No, not at all. We wanted our GM to walk down with the BMs, but DOC & Priest set it up the other way. We just flowed with it.- Would you change anything about you ceremony now that it is over? Make my SIL not read. She went to the rehearsal but at the ceremony she missed her cue by like a minute. We were all waiting for her to get up there to read. It resulted in her getting a death stare from me that some of my friends won't let me live down. I also would have made sure to have a full script on the pulpit rather than a program or booklet.

    - How long was your ceremony? 20 minutes - including a hilariously 'long' Remembrance song by our guitar soloist. We didn't realize how long 4 minutes is when everyone is staring at you. We tried to motion to him to cut, but he didn't look up for 4 straight minutes. Even the Rev was laughing. - Did you write you own vows? I used some 'canned' versions from the Rev, but made a mash up from them.- Did you have any special ceremonies within the ceremony? (sand, unity candle etc.) Unity candle. - How many (if any) readings did you have? One short reading. - Who (if any) read your chosen readings? DH's nephew.- Did you have a receiving line? Nope.-Did you and your FI disagree on anything having to do with the ceremony? We compromised. DH wanted much more religion in it, I wanted more spiritual Om-ish stuff. - Would you change anything about you ceremony now that it is over? Yeah, I'd have us write and say our own vows to each other. And we never said 'I do.' I believe we said 'I will', but I can't even remember if that is what we said.  And I would have a mike for the officiant. It was really hard to hear ours.

    - Basic Catholic ceremony, with communion, so about 1hr. - We did a Unity Candle and the Adoration of the Blessed Virgin. - We had 3 readings and prayers of the faithful. My cousin, DHs cousin, the priest, and my SIL did the readings - Short receiving line. We were glad because some guests couldn't come to the reception. - No disagreements - I wouldn't change a thing. It was steeped in a tradition that our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents used as well, so it was extremely meaningful.

    - How long was your ceremony? About 40-45 min.- Did you write you own vows? No, but I did choose which version I wanted to use.- Did you have any special ceremonies within the ceremony? (sand, unity candle etc.) I had the Spanish tradition of the 13 arras (coins) that represents Christ and the 12 apostles. Other than that, just the usual unity candle and giving of peace roses to the mothers.- How many (if any) readings did you have? 2- one from the Bible and the other was an Irish blessing.- Who (if any) read your chosen readings? Our good friend Matt from college read both, though my cousin was supposed to read the second, but didn't show.- Did you have a receiving line? Yes-Did you and your FI disagree on anything having to do with the ceremony? No- Would you change anything about you ceremony now that it is over? Nope- it was perfect for us.

    - How long was your ceremony?  About 50 minutes (full catholic mass)- Did you write you own vows? Nope - I've always liked the traditional ones!- Did you have any special ceremonies within the ceremony? (sand, unity candle etc.) Unity candle- How many (if any) readings did you have? 2 readings and Prayers of the Faithful- Who (if any) read your chosen readings? DH's aunt and my SIL (bro's wife) did the readings. My brother did the Prayers of the Faithful.- Did you have a receiving line? Yes. We almost cut it out, but I am SO glad we kept it!-Did you and your FI disagree on anything having to do with the ceremony? Not really. He would have preferred the shorter catholic ceremony without a full mass, but he was fine with the full mass and his family was happy we did it.- Would you change anything about you ceremony now that it is over? No, it was perfect-o

    - How long was your ceremony? 20 min- Did you write you own vows? no, but we chose them- Did you have any special ceremonies within the ceremony? (sand, unity candle etc.)  sand! Loved it!- How many (if any) readings did you have? 0- Who (if any) read your chosen readings? N/A- Did you have a receiving line? Nope!-Did you and your FI disagree on anything having to do with the ceremony? Nah, we were on the same page with everything. Although I suggested writing our vows at one point, and he's not a very good writer, so he wasn't comfortable with that.- Would you change anything about you ceremony now that it is over?  Nope! Not even his gma coming up to wish us well at the beginning (she's a little out of it). Or DH pouting bc the reverend was joking with him. Our ceremony was so "us."
