Wedding Invitations & Paper

Do I need to include the year on my invitations?

My invitations are set to be mailed in a few weeks.  When I was proofing my design, I realized the year was not on them.

After some redesign and additions, we added the year in a few different ways- twenty ten, two thousand ten as well as 2010.  None of these worked well with the design.  (Well, really, I just hated the way it looked with the year.)

My question is: Do I need to put the year on it?  If the invite goes out 6 weeks prior to the wedding, don't guests automatically understand that the wedding is this year?

** save-the-dates were already sent out with the date and year clearly stated on them

(p.s. I am having a less formal wedding, taking place near the beach.)

  • Well, the correct way to state the year is two thousand ten, just FYI.  As long as your wedding is occuring in the year in which you're mailing the invites, the year is not required on the invitation.

Ditto Navy that you might want it for sentimental reasons.  You can probably just put it on your programs and save one of those for yourself, though.  I wouldn't redo them if I were you.
