Boxed Invites?

I'm the Matron of Honor in my cousin's wedding next August.  As a gift, I'm going to be making all of her invites.  I'm thinking of doing one of those silk boxed invitations, but how the heck do you mail those?  Also, does anyone know of a site where I can buy those jeweled buckles/closures that you sometimes see on an invite with a silk ribbon?  (Hope that makes sense!)

She's getting married at an upscale hotel, so I really want to make her platinum wedding style invites, but stay within a reasonable budget.  I'm pretty creative (if I do say so myself!) but if anyone has any other ideas, or some websites or pics they could send me as inspiration, that would be great!  Or are there any knottie bios I should check out????

I havent been on this site since I was married in 2006, and I'm so psyched to be back!  I love the knot, and I'm sure I'll be back looking for lots of advice on these invites!!!

Silk boxed invites? I have no idea what you're talking about, sorry! If you could provide an example maybe we could be of more help.

Are you paying the postage for her as well?  Those things get really expensive to ship...

If you do a search for "luxury wedding invitations," I'm sure you'll get some good ideas.  I'm DIYing an invitation design I got off Invitation Consultants.  But keep in mind, true luxury invitations have textured print, either letterpress or engraved.  Neither of those options are cheap.

Check out this site, and you'll see what I'm referring to.  They are out of the country and havent been very helpful with providing me info on how to ship them.

Has anyone received invites like this, or used this type of invite?  I had boxed invitations, but they were from Paper Source and my calligrapher was able to write on the box.

I would love to send boxed invites, but so far I haven't been able to find any online that are reasonable. You said you used Paper Source. Can you share how much you spent?

I think my dream of the silk boxes is over.  Way too much $$$!

Can anyone point me in the direction of some really great knottie bios?  I want to get some inspiration!!!!

What about silk pocketfolds rather than boxes?  You'd still get that fabric tactile feel without the excessive price. 

I don't think her bio has instructions, but I suspect that she followed the general "make your own pocketfolds" directions that are in a lot of bios, but covered with silk.
