Margins

Im trying to print my own invitation and I am having a huge problem with the margins. I have a design in the corner and Im trying to have to it look like its "bleeding" off the page. The problem is that when I go to print preview it, it only shows half the design. I tried to do what cards & pockets suggested by adding an extra 1/8 but that doesnt work either.

Currently the paper size is 4.5X6.5. Does anyone know what margin size I should be using??

TIA

What program are you using?  I went into Word, set the page size to 4.5/6.5, put a jpg in the corner and set it to be "in front of text".  Previewed and I see the whole thing.  Not sure that would print but at least I can preview.  also, I didnt change the margins from the default.

  • You can set your margins in whatever program your using to create your invites, but the actual minimum margin is determined by your printer.

I tried to print with 0" margins but my printer wouldn't let me.  Try looking in your manual for the minimum margin setting

  • Most printers can't print right up to the edge of the paper.  If you're DIYing them, the best way to get close to the edge is to print on regular 8.5"x11" paper and cut it down using a paper cutter.
  • My printer couldn't print all the way to the margins.  I had to compensate by cutting where I wanted the edge to be.
  • Hmm but its not even showing up in the print preview screen. When I am creating the invitation should i set the paper size at 4.5.X6.5 at that point? Or just change the paper type in the print section? I'm so confused

and btw Im using word and also trying to use adobe illustrator.
