I know that you are supposed to send out the invites 8 weeks before the wedding.

How long before you send the invites do you send save-the-dates?

STDs usually go out 6-9 months before the wedding, no more than 12 months before.  They aren't required at all.  They're only necessary if you are getting married on a holiday weekend or really busy travel weekend, or you have mostly out of town guests that will be flying in.

we sent ours out 6 months before.
