My scrooge is showing already

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that some christmas-y like commercials are starting to sneak on the TV already? I'm also a little worried because the end of October for some reason means the beginning of christmas time for radio stations and certainly for malls and stores.

I haven't noticed it much yet.  But it really does annoy me that this starts already.  I don't think it should start until at least mid-November. I'd say after Thanksgiving - but everyone wants to advertise for Black Friday.

I was sick of Christmas 3 weeks ago when we went to Lowe's and their Christmas decorations were up. It makes me hate Christmas because of the overload.

Oh, I'm excited too.  :P  I asked DH if we could decorate the weekend before Thanksgiving, since we will be OOT and most likely won't get home until later on Sunday...and Thanksgiving is late this year anyway!

I haven't seen many Christmas commericals yet (though I don't watch a lot of TV), nor have I heard any Christmas music. I have seen a bunch of Christmas decor in the stores though- Michael's started advertising it like a week or 2 ago, and put their Halloween/fall stuff on sale or clearance already. It keeps getting more and more ridiculous- I'm a scrooge too I guess. Bah humbug, I just want to enjoy Halloween and Thanksgiving first!!

Oh yea, and no Christmas decorations will go up until December. Of course, we leave ours up until beginning to mid Jan.

I worked retail for several years and it definitely ruined Christmas for me.

I love Christmastime!! I already have a Christmas cd in my car - ready to go after Halloween! We decorate the week of Thanksgiving but we might be doing it earlier this year because of how late it is and we leave them up till February, usually! :) Don't shoot me - but I've already started Christmas shopping! :P

I think because I'm home all day today I'm noticing all the little things on TV. I am a big scrooge with this stuff. I have gotten a lot better. I like to put the tree up around the 1st of December. But it comes down before New Years.

Jenn - I am actually 1/2 way done with my Christmas shopping.  I do about 90% of it online every year.  I find some great deals and most of the time get free shipping.  But I can't stand the constant Christmas music.  I love most Christmas music as well, but hearing it all the time for 2 months drives me nuts. And it really drives me nuts to hear things like 'Silent Night' playing at 7:30 in the morning on the way to work, when I'm already half asleep.

Don't shoot me - but I've already started Christmas shopping! :P See, the earlier Christmas shopping doesn't bother me. I figure that if you see the perfect gift for someone and/or it's on sale/you have a coupon, why not buy it?

I notice that they are popping up on the movie channels too.  But I love the Christmas movies.  But I do hate that they have everything up and Halloween wasn't at the time even here.

Shannon I saw Christmas trees all lined up in front of the window at pool city weeks ago. I love Christmas but can we wait closer to mid Nov? I do enjoy the music though.

Oh - I already started Christmas shopping, too. I work about 100 yards from one of the biggest shopping malls in the US. Its a complete nut house on a daily basis. No way in hell am I getting near that mall Between Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I love Christmas shopping insanity.  I am crazy.I do most of my shopping online though, as do most of the other people in my office.  At Christmas time, it starts to look crazy here with boxes piled up everywhere since everyone has their stuff shipped here.

Aw, I actually loved working retail during the holidays- I even like the mall craziness!  Maybe I am nuts :)Although I love Christmas stuff, I DO think putting it up in October is way too early.  Mid-November is fine with me.  I shop early too!

So is mine, but it's Halloween related lol.  Last year, 90% of the kids that came to our house were high school aged.  I told DH I should give them bic razors this year since some of them obviously shave.  I'm going out to buy candy tonight and I'm getting cheap stuff like smarties for the high schoolers and full sized bars for the little kids.  IMO if you're old enough to work you can buy your own candy!

I am excited for Christmas, because I am really curious to see what it will be like in a Muslim country, with a large percentage of ex-pats. They have some pumpkins and halloween candy, so they do seem to recognize that, so it will be interesting to see what happens as the holiday season arrives. Course, I am also sad, because it will be my first Christmas away from family! So lots of emotions this year....

Our trick-or-treat is tonight.. I'm curious to see if we get a lot of highschoolers.  I know at my parents house, there were always a ton of older kids and they were always trying to claim that they were collecting candy for an orphanage or a charity or a sick kid in a wheelchair. I never believed them but I didn't want to get stuck with a ton of candy either! haha.

I loved working retail at Christmas too!! I worked at Family Toy Warehouse for 2 Christmas seasons while I was in highschool.  Might have been my favorite job ever.

LOL Jenn, they're so full of it ;-)  I don't mind getting stuck with a bunch of chocolate candy bars at all!  I just gave the little kids 2 or 3 times as much as the others last year. I didn't mind working retail during the holidays either (the Christmas song sound track was much better than the everyday soundtrack!)

I work about 100 yards from one of the biggest shopping malls in the US. Jen, I'm assuming you're referring to Tyson's Corner? I don't know much about it, but I hear it's huge. I'll have to try to make it out their sometime, though I'm not sure how public transit-friendly it is.

We have a lot of young kids in our neighborhood so handing out candy is superfun. I think if a highschool kid tried to tell me he/she was collecting candy for anyone but themself I would laugh. As far as retail goes, the music always drove me nuts. I'm a huge beatles fan but Paul McCartney's Song Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime will forever take me back to working at Fashion Bug and a little part of my soul dying.

OMG Elisha...I hate that one as well (luckily it wasn't on our sound track).  One morning DH's alarm went off and SHAWCT was on at the "ding-dong ding-dong" part with the annoying "children's choir" and I screamed...I really thought it was a nightmare!
