Just got here!

Hey ladies, Im in the Burgh! Woohoo! I just got here about an hour ago. Im waiting for DF to get home from work, hes going to be so suprised when he comes home! Im thinking about taking the car to the grocery store to get some things for tonights dinner. I was thinking about making my stepmothers famous crab cakes. YUM!Im so incredibly bored though, I was completely shocked to see FI has been keeping up on the cleaning in the house since hes been extremely busy working! Theres nothing for me to do except some grocery shopping! We are suppose to go look at some venues tonight, Im so excited, hopefully well have something booked by Saturday! So keep your fingers crossed!Any suggested bridal shops for me to go to, to find a reception dress?

Welcome to the burgh!Which venues are you looking at?I loved my experience at MB Bride. I went there because they are one of the largest selections in the area and they had most of the designers I wanted to try on. Good Luck! Keep us posted on the venue/dress search!

The LeMont, Springwood, The Mansion and I cant remember the other one. He also wants to meet with a person who does the big tents because he wants an outside reception so bad and his grandfather said we could do it on a part of his land he owns, so that might be a possibility! Saturday we are going to look at small private places to have a ceremony, not sure what he foudn for that. Im excited and cant wait!

Did you ask any of us about Springwood? Just wondering since many of us have the same opinion about it. Thumbs down.

No I didnt ask about Springwood, that was FIs pick to be honest with you. YIKES, now Im frightened!

I realized that that sounded mean and it wasn't supposed to. Have fun in Pgh this weekend.

Not really frightening, just ehhh. Overpriced for what you get, no real back up plans in case of rain and it's very tight in there. We nixed it quickly because it was 100 percent non-wheelchair (or disabled at all) friendly. But, keep an open mind. I didn't mean to scare you.

There have definitely been many bad experience posts about Springwood. According to past knotties, they aren't that easy to work with and VERY pricey. Have fun and good luck!

Yeah, I don't think it was being mean, but people have had reservations with Springwood in the past.  Check it out for yourself though!  :)

Springwood is an absolutely gorgeous place.  But it's $$$ and there are some restrictions.  Plus - I know many people have had problems with the owners.  I checked the place out and the $$ combined with the fact they close the bar an hour before reception ends ruined it for me.

EWW, I so dont want to deal with people like that! I think Im going to tell FI we should cancel the appointment because of everything Ive heard! He wont be happy, but as soon as I tell him about everything Ive heard hell agree! And no I didnt find that mean at all!!!

I had a wonderful experience at David's in Monroeville. MB Bride is a good place to look also, as previously mentioned. Enjoy your time in Pgh- it sounds busy, but fun!

Yay, have a GREAT weekend in Pittsburgh with your FI!  Good luck with the venue search and let us know if you pick one!As far as reception dresses go, I can't give you locations in the burgh, but Amsale has a goooorgeous line of "Little White Dresses" for this exact purpose.  Is there a Pittsburgh boutique that sells these?
