Wedding Invitations & Paper

No inner envelope

My wedding is adults only. My invites are pocketfolds so no inner envelope. I know that's  where people would write out the person name of the actual guest. On my reception card would it be rude to put:

Adult Reception
Immediately following the ceremony
name of place
address

Re: No inner envelope

  • Yes, it is against etiquette to write Adults Only on the invitation.  I have seen on here, where brides have placed their guests names on the outside of the pocketfold, as if it were an inner envelope.

I used pocketfolds, did not write anything on them.  I only wrote out the names of the guests on the outside envelope.  Mr & Mrs. John Doe.  I only had one couple write in a child.  So my H called and explained the invitation was for John & Jane, not little Suzy too.  If someone were to try and push and say they cannot attend without their child, call their bluff and say "you will be missed".

If you are worried about people adding in names, you can always do more detailed RSVP cards.

X of seats have been reserved in your honor:

    Mr. John Doe
    ____ accepts with delight
    ____ declines with regret

    Mrs. Jane Doe
    ____ accepts with delight
    ____ declines with regret

This way, no one can add in extra names.  It can take a little longer but if you are making your own invites, a mail merge in word can accomplish this faster.  Or you can handwrite in everything.
