Wedding Invitations & Paper

DIY Templates? help

I'm thinking of going with Cards and Pockets for DIY pocketfold invites and I need a template for either microsoft word or publisher that can make it the correct size I need.  How do I change the size of the paper in these two programs?

Specifically, I need the invitation size to be 4.5x6.5.  I need the inserts to be 3.5x6.5.

Can anyone give me templates or show me how to resize in one of these two programs?

ETA:  Specifically, I'm going to get the invitations and inserts pre cut from cards and pockets and I'm also going to have them print them.  In order for them to print the invites, I have to send them a pdf file with exactly what I want in exactly the correct size of the paper.  So, I don't know how to resize paper in publisher or word.

Templates for exactly what you want are in my bio.  It prints the invite and 2 inserts on one sheet of paper (inserts are rotated 90 degrees).  Then, there's a separate template for RSVP cards - 5 to a page.

ETA:  There's a word template there, but the publisher one is better/easier/more predictable.

  • Thank you, that may be very helpful.

However, I was going to try to get the paper already pre cut from cards and pockets and have them pre print it too so all that I would need to do would be to send them a pdf file in the exact size of the paper with the correct colors etc, so they could send it back to me.  So, I'd need to send a separate pdf for each size of paper.  Do you know how I could make that work?
  • You'd have to have software that can create pdf's.  I'd email them and ask if PDF is the only option.  They may charge you less to print on full sheet and then cut - never know.  I'd find out.

  • They do other file types besides pdfs but they are file names I've never heard of and probably can't create with my programs.  I emailed them and they said that I could find an online tutorial for how to covert a publisher file to a pdf so apparently it's possible.  That's a good idea about the printing first and then cutting.  I'll have to ask.
  • What are the other file types?  I can probably tell you what software creates each one.

  • You can download Cute PDF, which is a free program.  Your click print just like you would anything else and then instead of printing on your normal printer you would select the cute PDF printer.  It just creates a PDF file, very simple and easy and it works with anything.
  • My version of Adobe will allow you to create pdf's from any type of document. Check out adobe's website and you may be able to download free software for this.
