USPS envelope guidelines?

Does anyone know if the USPS has guidelines regarding envelope/address color? FH and I want dark blue envelopes with silver or gold text, but obviously they have to be mail-able and not just pretty.

Definitely check if you're worried, but as long as they are readable, it should be fine. I send cards with colored envelopes all the time. I don't see how these would be any different. I would go for the silver b/c I think that would be easier to read.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I've received black and navy blue envelopes through the mail.  You should be fine.
  • I don't believe there are any specific guidelines for colors

  • I actually just mailed mine--navy envelopes with gold writing on the front.  They're actually taking awhile to get to some recipients....I mailed them last Monday, some got them Tuesday and have already sent back their responses, some people haven't even received them yet...I have no idea if this is because of the navy/gold or if it's just because it's the holiday season and the mail is much busier than usual.  I requested that they not go through the sorting machine, and I suspect that might have something to do with it also.  When I dropped them off at the post office, the postal worker didn't comment that the colors should present any kind of a problem though!  I think you should go for it, I LOVED my navy envelopes.
