Invitation Wording

Does this sound/look okay? We're having a small, destination wedding with only our closest friends and family.

With this invitation:

Re: Invitation Wording

  • The only thing that strikes me as odd is the "by" in the second line.  My only suggestion is to possibly change it to "with" but I'm not sure that is correct either.

I agree with pp. "By" doesn't sound quite right. I think "with" sounds better.

Also, if you have your parents' names on there, you don't need your last name.

  • I'm not digging "by" either.  "Through," maybe?  And if the groom's parents' names are on there, you don't need his last name.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Hmm, on every invitation site I found them using that wording with "by" but now that I think about it it does sound kinda weird! I think I like "with" better. Thanks!

  • Ditto the others about the "by" (though personally I don't care for the line at all -- obviously that's why people are being invited).

You don't need the groom's last name on there since his parents' names immediately follow.
  • Change "By" to "With".  Personally, though, I'd lose that whole phrase.  I think it sounds sort of contrived.

You don't use your last name (assuming it is the same as your parents.  You do use your groom's last name, though.

Also, the time should be "half after one o'clock in the afternoon".

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • Ehh I wish we could do without the line as well, AND the parents names (and just use Together with our parents) but my mom really wanted the verse and their names to be used, so I'm just doing it to keep her happy.

Invitations are not worth the battle LOL
