Vistaprint - NOT a fan

Ladies,

I am sure some of you had great experiences with Vistaprint...however I did not.  I will not be recommeding this company to anyone.  Below is the letter I wrote to Vistaprint...

My advice - you get what you pay for!! It's cheap for a reason!

Dear Vistaprint,

Upon recommendations from other brides online, I used your services to order 100 save the date magnets.  If I was happy with the product, I was going to use your company for our wedding invitations, thank you cards, etc.

I received the magnets 2 days later than scheduled, and while I was willing to overlook that, the quality of the product was poor.  Not only did the picture look extremely pixelated (and it was taken with an SLR camera), but the text came out blurry and there were no envelopes included!

I immediately called Vistaprint and spoke with a representative, Paul.  I explained the circumstances to him and he said that envelopes should have come with the order.  So, he promised I would receive an entire re-print of the magnets with 3 day delivery.  We also changed the photo since I was afraid it would come out pixelated again. I was satisfied and happy with the way everything was handled.  Until my next phone call…

After hanging up, I realized I needed to further crop the new photo.  After doing so, I called Vistaprint once again (minutes later) to confirm the cropping of the photo was in the new PDF proof.

I spoke with another representative, Naseen.  I was only trying to confirm the cropping of the photo, when she gave a completely different story regarding my entire order.   She said envelopes did not come with magnets only with save the date cards because, “people usually just hand out the magnets, the cards they mail.”   Really?  You think brides hand out their save the dates?  Would you like me to fly to the houses of our out of town guests and hand it to them?  That is just nonsensical and the reality is that save the dates ARE mailed – whether they be cards or magnets. She also told me that they would not arrive until next week!  I mentioned that Paul had promised me 3 day shipping since I’d already waited enough…and received a poor product.  However, NOTHING in my account was written to reflect that conversation.  Again, my conversation with Paul was MINUTES before my conversation with Naseen.

So, now I am over a week behind with mailing out our save the dates, we have to wait for new ones (and hope they look better), and had conflicting stories from 2 representatives from your company.  I realize Vistaprint offers lots of deals and things for free – but after this first experience, I’d rather pay more elsewhere for a better product and representatives who take care of theircustomers.

Needless to say, I will not be recommending Vistaprint to anyone. I also plan on alerting brides online to steer clear of your company.  I would be happy to send them my save the date so they can see the “quality” of your product.  Sometimes, you get what you pay for!

Unhappy first and last time customer,

Melissa

Re: Vistaprint - NOT a fan

  • I am so sorry.

At least this was for something that is not needed for the wedding (and honestly, "Save the Date" postcards, magnets, etc are not needed!), Melissa.  It sucks that you had such an awful experience.  Hopefully, you will be able to find a local vendor to help with your ongoing wedding stationary needs.

    Best of luck!
  • Very true - thanks.  I think at this point, I'm going to get our money refunded and not send out any save the date at all.

  • Did you upload your picture directly into one of their templates?  Or completely make your own and upload it?

I really hope your 2nd batch is better than the first and am sorry you had such problems!  It is true that the quality on some of the products definitely isn't great, and it definitely is frustrating too!

With your wedding 3 months away, it's kind of late to send STDs.  Don't worry about it and just send out your invites at the 8wk mark!
  • I uploaded a picture directly onto one of their templates.  Online, the proof looked great so I was excited...but the actual product was less than stellar.

I decided to cancel the entire free re-print and just get a refund.  We are not going to send out save the dates now.  Invites will be sent around the end of January anyway- like you said it's so close, there' s really no need.

We kind of procrastinated on that one - LOL.  I was in a wedding in November and my focus was on my best friend and prepping for her day, so I kind of dropped the ball with std's.
  • They're just an "added bonus" anyways! Best of luck with your invites!
  • Sorry you had a bad experience with them. I ordered a batch of magnets and the quality wasn't that great so I called and they sent another for free that looked great. Yes, you do get what you pay for. Like PP said it is quite late to be sending them anyway so your guests won't be missing them.

  • I also wanted to add that the my magnets did not come with envelopes and I didn't expect them to....there was an option to order them for an extra fee but I knew that I was ordering magnets from them, not specificially save the date magnets.

  • IMO mailings should come standard with envelopes, especially save the dates and invitations.  It's poor customer service to me to NOT include them.  Other places like magnetstreet.com have better quality products and envelopes come with their save the dates (as my best friend ordered hers...no problem with the quality - they were beautiful).

In an attempt to save money, I went with VP....never again though.

  • Have you ordered your invitations yet?  Just curious!  We were luckky we ordered ours early because I didn't realize they had to be assembled.  Just make sure you have enough time!

yeah, STD's for a wedding 3.5 months away is kind of silly!
