Wedding Invitations & Paper

People not receiving our invitations..

We sent out our invites last month and was really pleased when people started responding right away.

I saw a good friend this past week and while catching up I mention the invite and she said she would check but couldn't remember getting one. Turns out she didn't get one and It makes me pretty nervous that others may have not gotten theirs also..

At what point do I reach out to people to confirm if they have gotten theirs? I'd hate to wait until closer to our rsvp date and have people upset that I didn't give them enough time to plan for it.

  • There's really no way to know until the RSVP date passes. If you call too soon, it looks pushy. I would maybe call close family only if they haven't responded quickly. I think you just have to wait it out for anyone else.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

This.  Also, some people do delay RSVPing immediately because they don't know for sure that they can come.  If they haven't responded by the date, then certainly you need to call them and find out if they're coming, but until then, give them the benefit of any doubt that you'll hear back from them.
  • That's what I was thinking too, I'd hate to harp on people. A good portion of our vip's have responded back but I'll put out some feelers out about it and hope for the best!

Did you go to the post office to double check on the postage before stamping and sending?  This happened to my cousin.  My invitation was never returned to him...and it certainly didn't make it to me.  My stepdad received his maybe a week before the wedding due to the delay.
  • Yeah we had neat little fold up invites that didn't need extra postage and even the returns are getting routed to me fine. I'm trying to convince myself it's an isolated incident and just mailing them an extra.

  • FWIW, we had all invitations weighed and addresses were double checked.

Even then, I sent two separate invitations to one household and one was received and the other was returned AFTER the wedding.

I had one invitation returned to me and was able to give it to the invited friend in person who said, "I have no idea why this didn't get to me."

And then there are the invitations to my husband's cousin and my father's cousin in Florida.   To this day we don't know if they're going to attend the wedding and we've been married for over 5.5 years!

My point: it happens.  Make the phone calls when people don't respone to double check.
