Is a return address required on a save the date?

Hey Everyone:

Is a return address required on save the dates? Mine will be going into envelopes and  I was unsure if I had to put a return address on them or not.  I recently obtained updated addresses of everyone that we are sending a STD to so I know they are current and should get to the correct address but I normally will never mail something without a return address. Any help would be appreciated!

Diitto. Incase you have an incorrect address, The post office knows where to return the save the date.
  • We're thinking of sending postcards - if so, it won't have a return address.

  • One of the best things about STDs for YOU is that it's a test of your address list.  So, if you don't put return addresses on them, you'll never know which addresses aren't deliverable until the invites go out and your stress level is through the roof.

Postcard or not, I'd put a return address on there.

  • I'd put a return address on them for sure.  In addition to testing your address list, it also lets all of your guests know your address if they want to send you a congratulations card or get a gift delivered to your house.
  • We didn't put a return address on our postcard STDs and I really wish that we had. Now I find that every time I talk to someone my first question is "did you get the Save the Date?" because I have no idea if any were undeliverable.  It is quite annoying.

  • Definitely include a return address.  If you have an incorrect address, you'll get it returned and find out about it before the actual invites go out.  If you don't, it will wind up in a pile at the post office, and you'll get invitation returned, possibly without enough time for the person to come.
  • What does doing postcards have anything to do with not having a return address. We did postcards, and I put a return address (top, left corner) on everyone of them.
