Including parents' SOs in program.

My parents are divorced. My mother is remarried. My father has a serious girlfriend. They divorced when I was 23, by the way, so neither of their partners helped raise me.

Would it be appropriate to put something like this in the program?

Parents of the bride:
Mrs. Mary Jones, escorted by Dr. Robert Jones
Mr. John Smith, escorting Ms. Jane Doe

Or should I leave them out all together? I don't know if I feel comfortable including them under "parents of the bride" otherwise, and if I did just my stepfather, my dad would be pissed. I think if I added my Dad's girlfriend, my mom would be pissed.

If you're going to include them, I like the way you have that. (I probably would have written "escorted by" for your dad too just out of habit, but you've got it right :-)

As to whether or not to include them, I'd talk to your mother and see what she says about including her husband and then just do the same for your father's girlfriend. I know it depends on family dynamics, but my guess is that she'd want him included.

Squirrly, if it makes a difference, my dad and his girlfriend cohabitate. I don't think my dad wants to remarry (I don't want him to either, but that's another story). So this is probably as serious as it gets for him.
