Map & Directions - is it a must?

I'm in the middle of printing out our invitations, allthat is left is the reception/direction/mapcard insert.

Our reception is at the same place as our wedding, so the invite just says Reception immediately following.

We have a hotel for our OOT guests and we have arranged transportation for them.
And most people I'm guessing will be using google maps or mapquest or gps to find their way to the wedding.

And if I really need to make a map and directions, what should be on it?
church, reception, hotel, rehersal dinner?

Should I add a seperate insert for the rehersal directions/map to the guests that are invited to that as well?

I'm so confused =/

Re: Map & Directions - is it a must?

  • We did an insert card listing the reception address (for those wanting internet or GPS directions), the hotel info, and "for more information and directions, go to www.weddingmapper.com". We have a map there that people can get directions to everything. We will print out directions/map from church to reception that we will have available at the church the day of the wedding.
    Crosswalk
  • I don't think you need to have an insert card for people, especially since most people will be staying at a hotel that has transportation provided.  Since everything is happening at the same location it will not only save paper but also save you money on postage.  I would just put something on your wedding website for people who have questions, and make sure that people know that their hotel offers them transportation.
  • I was the MOH in a friends wedding. When I was doing her shower invites, I didn't put directions (just the address) figuring it's the age of mapquest & GPS, people will be able to find it.
WELL! Almost every guest that called me to RSVP make a comment about there not being directions (some were really snotty). I was really shocked!
Based on this, I'm including them.
    Good Luck.
  • Just make sure that gps actually takes them to the right place.  We ran into that problem with both our venue and our hotel.  For the venue, it took them to a building down the street, and for the hotel it had them turn 2 streets too late.
That was through Google.  A friend of mine used Navigon and it worked perfectly.
I know that is not typical, but just something to double check.
