Save the Dates...

My fiancé and I have quite a few friends and relatives from out of state. Would it be too soon to send Save the Dates a year in advance?

Or would engagement announcements be more fitting as a heads up?

Re: Save the Dates...

  • Save the dates are generally sent out 6-9 months ahead of time. Any earlier than that and they might be forgotten about. So, yes, I think a year is too early, but not by much!

Sending them out at 9 months gives people plenty of time to make travel arrangements and clear work schedules. I don't think you'd have any trouble sending them out then.

I didn't do engagement announcements because my parents threw us an engagement party which served as our announcement, so I don't know what to tell you about those. I'm guessing you'd do either STD's or engagement announcements, and STD's seem more useful to me.
