Postcard RSVP-Informal?

I've been looking at invitations and found one that I really like on Etsy (click). I love the shape of the invite and thought the RSVP postcard was really cute and would save us time on addressing envelopes.

I do want our invitations to look formal. I would use pocketfolds and there would also be an insert pointing guests to our wedding website for directions, accomodations, etc. And I would format the RSVP like a normal RSVP card (wouldn't have the Chicken, Beef, and Veggie pictures shown in the Etsy invite)

What do you think, does an RSVP postcard make the invitation less formal?

Re: Postcard RSVP-Informal?

  • I think fun and creative always out weighs "formal". People won't remember your formal invite. But they will remember your fun and creative one. Do what you like best :)
  • We are using RSVP postcards...so I think it's fine!

[QUOTE]I think it *can* make it less formal, but with that style of invitation I don't think it does. Just curious - if you aren't including any other inserts, why are you using a pocketfold? It just seems like a waste of money to me.

I was planning on doing one insert with information about our wedding website/wedding app. Is it uncommon to do a pocketfold with only one insert and rsvp card? I received a pocketfold invite a few weeks ago with only these items and just love how organized it keeps everything.

  • I think it can make it look less formal, but with the style of invitation you have chosen, I think it works really well.  We had an RSVP card and one additional insert and we didn't use a pocketfold, but I think it would look fine if you did a pocketfold with two inserts, as long as there wasn't a weird gap or anything.
  • I've never thought of a postcard RSVP as making it less formal!  I guess some people may not like it but the overall feel of our invites are pretty formal, so I don't think most people will think of that... and if they do *meh*  The last two weddings FI and I were invited to had PostCard Response cards and it didn't bother me.
