three thirty o'clock

That's incorrect, right?

I got an invitation today where a bride did this twice:

twelve-thirty o'clock and three thirty o'clock.

I'm getting married next year, and I only plan to put: half past four in the afternoon.

Who is right? Me or her?

  • I just put 4:30pm on my invites. I like the way you did it too... Hers just seems, a little redundant?

  • Yes how horrible! Its half past three oclock or half after three oclock, i think half past was the correct one. It certainly wasn't three thirty oclock, whoops!

    Half after is correct.

    Three thirty o'clock?  Tee hee.
  • Yes, half after is correct.
  • Half after for weddings; half past is for funerals.

I feel bad for your friend, though...if it were me, I'd feel extremely embarrassed if anyone pointed out my mistake!  I hope everyone else she invited is tactfully enough to not ask her about it, too...
  • As PP's have said, you are correct. Three thirty o'clock makes me giggle a little....

  • LOL I thought so. It sounded so weird.
She did it for her bridal shower invites too, and she had a few typos like putting honor instead of honour (we're Canadian)
