May 12 wedding

Thinking of doing a May 12 wedding. Getting married in Greek Orthodox Church so it will be a Sunday wedding. It is Mother's Day. Opinions on this? We just got engaged 2 weeks ago and don't want a super long engagement. Was thinking a March 10 wedding, bu tthat may be cutting it close. Any advice!

Re: May 12 wedding

  • Long as your VIPs don't have a huge problem with it, I say go for it. One thing to keep in mind if you are having fresh flowers is that they are sometimes more expensive around Mother's day, since it is a big flower holiday. Florists also tend to book early for that weekend. Good luck with your planning, and congratulations on your engagement!

  • Personally, I wouldn't be able to get married on Mother's Day and would be worried people might not show up because of it. But if you don't see that being an issue with you, then go for it. As for March 10, I think that is plenty of time to plan, as it all goes a lot quicker than you expect once you start planning! So as long as all your vendors are available that day, I would choose that day! Good luck

I agree with TogetherPerfect. As a guest I would more than likely not attend. However, some people might. I would weight the pros and cons on this.

</div><div>This.  Also, you really can't decide on a date until you find a venue.  A venue will determine your dates because you'll need to take a date that they still have available.  Find a venue first, then decide on a date.

  • I'd run the date by your closest family and friends and see what they'd think. Also like PPs said, if you're set on wanting fresh flowers they may be a lot more expensive then because of Mother's Day. You really can't do much else until you set that date with a venue.

This!!! Which is why booked ours early! Don't announce your date until the venue is booked.

<div>Mel is right--try to choose your venue and then see what they have available. This can be kind of tough because when you make an appointment to meet with them they will ask you what dates you are interested in, but maybe just tell them what month(s) you were hoping for and see what they have available. Do you have a place in mind already? </div>
