Beach Theme.??

I originally thought it was tacky, but I kinda like the idea. I'm obsessed with beaches and white sand and warm water. FI has never experienced it, which is why we are honeymooning to the caribbean. What do yu ladies think I could do to make our wedding a beachy theme, without it being on the beach.?? Or do you think its tacky.?? Lol. Tell the truth.

Re: Beach Theme.??

  • I am doing a beach theme. We are on a hotel on the beach with beautiful breathtaking views. Our ceremony will be simple with large starfish on thin rope tied to 8 chairs as you walk down aisle. Our name place settings I'm aiming for sand dollar. Our centerpieces are hurricane vases fille with sand shells and candle around them will have sea shells as like a reef on bottom of hurricane vase. We will have beach themed favors too.
  • I think as long as it will work with your venue, go for it! I think beach themed weddings have great decorations.

<div>I agree with this. I'm getting married at a winery, a beach theme would look silly there (IMO). </div>

  • Agreed. If it isnt on or in view of a beach, you will need to make sure it will flow nicely. It could definitely work, and I have seen a lot of cute ideas for that theme, but just make sure it works corretly.
Do you have a venue or a venue in mind?

  • I love the beach so I say go with it!
  • If you are getting married on the beach, then I think it's natural.  If not, I think it would be forced.  I'm not wild about themes in general.

  • Thanks ladies. FI wanted a theme, well I think he thinks that all weddings should be themed. I came up with beach because I saw these cute seashells to go in my centerpieces. I'm gonna talk to him about it some more.

  • I think if you do something like this..

it would be ok..it has to be done tastefully and not so beachy if you not near water or are on an actual beach. Sorry the pic is so big ! lol So maybe you could something like this. hth

I love those ideas! Pinterest is awesome too for ideas!
  • Ok, I think Im going to be the voice of the minority here. Perhaps I am just over it because I live in Florida and it seems like every. single wedding. is a beach theme and we have beaches everywhere, but it's way over-done down here. IMHO it can be a beautiful tasteful theme if done properly and usually only done at a venue that has views of the water. I think it would be hard to successfully pull that theme off in an area that does not have a beach (or at least nearby).

My first wedding, though it had views of the ocean, was on a patio overlooking the ocean. Instead of doing seashells and stuff like that in my "theme" I used colors of the beach "pool blue" and used only "touches" of the beach, like seaglass and sand, no shells. The water outside the windows was enough to drive the point home, if you know what I mean.

HTH and sorry to disappoint, but Im soooo over the beach thing.
